A youtuber named Charriii5 counted and assuming you beat every mission and never changed hubs unnecessarily, and never had to reload, there are *465 loading screens* , which end up taking 1:58:34, or a minute and a half shy of ***two hours*** .

8:50 the worst part about this section is that it's so easy to eat up your lives and if you get a game over you don't restart the level. You have to load your last manual save. You'd have the start the game from the beginning if you didn't know that.

Bruh, you're not even that far off. During development they split the dev team again and again to work on multiple projects. By the end the only people working on it were inexperienced devs who didn't exactly know what made sonic fun to begin with and maybe a janitor. Combine that with a ridiculously strict deadline and working on consoles they had no experience with and the result is this hot mess we see before us.

This game is awful to play, but I get their intentions on what they were trying to do. The concept was not the worst thing ever, just bad exection. I mostly blame the higher ups at Sega for this games failure, since they split the sonic team to work on this game and Sonic and the Secret Rings, and they rushed this out to meet the deadline for the 15th anniversary. I still think Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is the worst Sonic ever, at least this game had ambition and tried harder than that game.

Just to give an idea of how much loading is in this game for those unaware: Charriii5 in his "Everything Wrong With" had to edit out 465 REQUIRED load screens (no failed missions, no unnecessary backtracking, basically if you play the game and go where you need to pretty much perfectly), almost 2 hours of load time

It's still a damn shame what this game became. Rushed to meet a deadline, half the team was split off to do Secret Rings, content was lost between the demo and the full release. It was just one thing after the other. The fan project Sonic P-06 kinda shows what this could have been a fair bit. If it'd had an extra year or so, maybe y'know not had SEGA split the team up and in general just wasn't so troubled to put together. Man it could have been so much more even with the weird story beats... The ultimate problem though is that despite the game being out longer than the anniversary it represented. So many still use this as the catalyst of what to expect from every game that came after and eventually lead to the team simplifying everything down to a near boring extent. Ah well... At least the films are great!

its one of those wierd cases where that was apearantly ALWAYS a thing in the japanese version of sonic.. (not the love interest but sonic just being on... earth or something with humans) but they thought that was wierd in the west so they made up the whole "mobius" thing setting it on a different planet or w/e

I think the worst thing about this for me is that as a kid, I fucking loved this game. I never made it past the second level. I honestly don't know why 7 year old me loved this game. My only guess is that my brother and I had gotten an xbox 360 shortly before this. Brand new sonic on a brand new console. Early on for the 360 there wasn't a lot of games for kids.

Ride to hell is worse because at least this game is tolerable ride to hell is not terrible AI, terrible story (worse than 06 by that I mean it's boring) that and this game has worse bugs than 06 (game can crash frequently on PC alongside collision detection and roads failing to load causing you to just fall to your death in driving missions most of the time) and yet 06 isn't as bad so stop complaining this game is many years old that and Sonic Boom is worse anyway same for Forces so yeah seriously people have to stop complaining about 0y there's worse games out there luv
