It's crazy how far we have gone with these Sonic movies. I remember like it was yesterday when Paramount dropped that Ugly Sonic trailer for the first movie and everyone went nuts with it so the studio delayed the first movie for 3 months just to redesign it 😂

sonic in the movies is the DIRECT OPPOSITE of sonic from the games. game sonic's personality is not something movie sonic can just mature into. game sonic is a free spirit - he's mostly a loner, does not crave a parental figure, does not want to be 'accepted' - he just is. he's confident in himself and will do what he thinks is right no matter what. while he does care deeply for his friends, he's also just fine without them. movie sonic is the opposite of all of this, he can't just mature into game sonic without doing a complete 180 on his entire character it would be unnatural

The catalyst for the first movie comes from him disobeying what is essentially his mother because he can't stand being in one place too long, similar issues occur with tom. Also Movie sonic doesn't really care about being accepted considering how dismissive he is of everyone who rejects him. He also explicitly didn't want another parental figure. The biggest point of difference you brought up was their view of friendship. Even then that's less opposites and more different levels of the same idea considering game sonic has two games where he makes a point about the value of friendship.

I thought that too, but the more I thought about it, despite the titles, it's not like Adventure 1 and 2 are all that connected to each other. Plus Adventure 1's story isn't as interesting. I thought they may use the important Adventure elements (the Echidna stuff) in Knuckles, but they barely scraped it and weirdly replaced Chaos with Iblis.

SA1 story wise is kinda blah and all over the place for much of it's runtime, SA2 just has far more interesting and more importantly concise things to pull from story wise. Sonic 06 has a more concise story than SA1 that would make for a better movie.

I never got the impression that Family was the major theme of these three films. Rather I've always been under the impression it's always been "Family vs. Loss and Trauma" Sonic, Knuckles, Shadow, even Ivo all have incredibly similar backstories to one another mostly either losing loved ones or becoming orphans, but it's what they choose to become that truly defines them. Not their past.

Its incredibly fulfilling to see the things i loved in my childhood become popular with the rest of the world. I never would have imagined to see Sonic this popular in my lifetime. Its almost like how Batman was dying until the Adam West tv show came out, which SAVED the whole Batman franchise. I feel these movies have do so for Sonic (also Sega finally realizing the level of care they need to take with their company mascot). This franchise has redeemed itself by finally listening to the fans!

Sonic 3 is a love letter to the Sonic Adventure 2 game. The H2H Sonic vs Shadow fight is kind of better than the game because its not just staright running on a road or jump spam homing attack on a small square platform, it was quite visercal anime martial arts esque. Sonic 3 was everything I hoped for, and then some. Jim Carrey gave his best performance yet in these films. I laughed the hardest in this one. His arc was also incredible to see. Keanu knocked it out of the park as Shadow. He was tough and sympathetic, and even got a great mini arc in this. The trio was as great as they had been in the first two films. With Knuckles being my favorite Sonic character, Idris was great again. The humans were only there when necessary and the only annoying one was even satirized. Plus, how they handled Agent Stone was a nice surprise. The fight scenes were intense and fun to watch, even had some DBZ vibes to them. The film started with an amazing opening that really set the mood well, and it was so fast paced I didn’t even realize two hours had passed when it was over. The mid-credits and post-credits scenes got me pumped for the next one. Seriously, one of the best experiences I’ve had in a theater. Could not stop grinning and/or laughing throughout.

Am I the only one who got Terminator vibes from that post credit scene, my theory is the next film will have time travel of some sort, Amy will be the Kyle Reece to Sonic’s Sara Conners, she will come from a post apocalyptic future where whoever created Metal Sonic took over, then the resistance will create a Time Machine (maybe with help from future Tails) to send Amy back to alter history, basically Terminator mixed with bits from the Cell Arc from DBZ.

Right, firstly; Hell yeah pup, glad you got an invite to the premiere So I got to see this film early (won tickets with O2 if anyone was curious) and I am in 100% agreement this is the best of the trilogy, the humor was (mostly) on point, Keanu brings across Shadow really well, the backstory with Maria was handled with Aplomb and the development of the main trio was fantastic. I'm gonna have to be a bit of a contrarian here; I did not rate the dual Jim Carrey and felt it was one of the weaker areas of the movie. It started well and there was some good moments but I was getting tired by the end, there was a certain point where it just became insufferable for me (no spoilers but it was towards the end of the movie), which is a shame as I usually love Jim's Eggman. Aside from that though it was a fantastic experience and ill be going to watch it again when it releases (But seriously they did not need to go that hard with a post-credits scene, they cooked so damn hard)

What a way we have come since "Sonic Teeth" and misunderstanding talk show host tried to paint the issue as less than it actually was for the product. Not to mention these films do not take their success for granted. They have understood each time to be grateful, to the point where ever their big actor names still make sure to get into the mindset of those characters instead of just "You're famous and we just wanted your name on the poster, just do what you normally do, no need to try." Man, makes me wish more studios took the hint, coming out on the same day as a certain Lion Movie that's gonna be resting on it's laurels and knowing that James Earl Jones sympathy and returning names being likely overpaid for a few lines will be enough alone to propel their film to success.

You could say we’ve experienced the same situation that Steve Austin had faced before he became Stone Cold Steve Austin and becoming the biggest draw in pro wrestling history. If Ugly Sonic/Original Movie Sonic is the Ringmaster/Fang McFrost/Otto Von Ruthless in how to completely miss the appeal of something that proven itself to be something great prior, then Movie Sonic is 1997/1998 era Stone Austin Steve Austin where he is so over with the crowds and moving the needle in the gross earnings overall.

I wouldn’t really say there’s a dynamic between Tails and Stone, they have one scene together. It’s just incredibly on point what they do with those characters in that one scene. I have no idea what you’re talking about with Ritter. For one… someone has to play the bit characters, and I think she played her well. For two… I have no clue what OTHER character you are saying she could play. Ok, maybe I do… I think… but point is “if you know you know” is not true at all with what you’re talking about. Besides, do we need to cram in more characters into this film that’s already quite well populated?

In 1994 Sonic 3 the game releases and is considered to be the best of the genesis era games 30 years later in 2024 Sonic 3 the movie releases and is considered the best of all the live action Sonic movies I love it when history repeats itself in a good way and hopefully much like in the 90s Sonic 3 will outgrows the illumination Mario movie as the highest grossing video game based movie and I loved both the Mario and Sonic movies having played the original games since was a kid but seeing as how you have both film adaptations of the Mario and Sonic franchises being a huge success both with fans of the games and financially at the box office I wouldn’t be surprised if this reignites the Sega and Nintendo rivalry from the early 90s

I grew up with the Sonic Adventure games and naturally feel anxious about SA2 being adapted for cinema, especially since I wasn't the biggest fan of the last two movies. Fowler stating how he wanted these films to grow with their audience kind of hurts me a little. Because for the first two films, I thought those audiences included kids AND their parents who grew up with memories of the Genesis. Guess that is not really the case anymore (or the goal post has changed to "parents who grew up with memories of the GameCube" and my geriatric ass don't count no more). Also I may be the only person on the planet who is NOT happy that the film is leaving the comedy behind, because I felt some levity would have helped me connect with Shadow a little more, considering he's not my favorite character. Guess that is ALSO not the case. I do hope his backstory with this new "sassy" Maria would keep Shad the Sad from being too much of a total bore. So with the humans benched and Team Sonic bending over backwards for Johnny the Nmonichog, i guess it will take 2 Jim Carreys to keep me awake while my younger brother joins his Gen Z brethern in enjoying this film. I guess 2/3 films and a series isn't a bad thing. Maybe when that "Into The SonicVerse" movie you want happens, I can enjoy the franchise again ...if my old ass don't develop dementia first.

Cause you had a similar phenomenon happen with Marvel and DC like both companies have been the biggest competitors in the comic industry and once Marvel made it big with the MCU Dc tried to do the same thing it was failure unfortunately but still I would imagine if the success of both the Mario and Sonic movies leads to the old console war rivalry between Nintendo and Sega reigniting but now instead of fighting over dominance in the gaming industry now they are fighting over box office revenue

In the Kristen Ritter bit is referring to "That Character", just guessing based on context clues of what you're saying, then I think I had the same thoughts in the build up to this movie to what you seem to be describing. But I haven't seen the movie obviously so maybe I'm off base.

@ChannelPup I really don't know how to feel about it because on the one hand it sounds awesome but on the other hand I can't think it does SA2 justice when it's missing 2 of the biggest female characters (unless I'm gonna be surprised). Idk is there any hope for me as someone sadly looking for some pink rather than just a boys club

While I understand your concerns, I’d like to give you an explanation as to why that is. It’s been said that the reason Amy, Rouge, and any other Sonic character do not make an appearance in the main film is because they don’t want to overcrowd the plot and dilute the core narrative. Which is why they add in some characters at a time to make sure they serve the story well and not have subplots that don’t contribute to the overall story. For example, Sonic Movie 3 is focusing more on Shadow’s arc, and with Gerald Robotnik added in, as well as Team Sonic, they can’t risk adding too many. In total, it has 7 Sonic characters, each that contributes to the main narrative. Adding one or two more characters will dilute the story on Shadow and may end up giving the new characters more screen time, seeing as that usually happens in most films that introduces new characters. Resulting in Shadow having less screen time. So, it’s best that new characters appear in future releases so their story and character is fleshed out more instead of being rushed.

@EpicPixel2024 That's fair but equally Amy is part of the core 4. The fact we still haven't had a female main character speaks volumes. However, if that's their justification then I hope it means we can see Amy in movie 4 in a star role and not a damsel or just a sidekick

@@fightingmedialounge519 Yeah fair, counted argument maybe shadow shouldn't have been movie 3. Obviously we're getting what we're getting but it feels like a cash grab. Rouge should have been introduced in knuckles or with shadow and Amy should have been movie 3 with shadow movie 4

@@kariminal2999 the issue there is they don't know how many films they're getting. So for them it was either going towards the game with the character and story that interests them, or basically do with CD what they did for Sonic 1(adventure 1 is also an option but that leads to knuckles having two movies and a show heavily dedicated to him). Either way Amy would need massive re-writes since I can't imagine most people would be interested in her being a damsel for most of the run time, and her adventure 1 story is built off her CD story. With rouge interviews with one of the writers makes it clear they want to use her, but can't agree how it should be done.

Didn't Crush 40 confirm that Live And Learn is going to be in the movie? I'm going to be VERY annoyed (and rightfully so) if Live And Learn gets replaced with a forgettable and generic rap song. Can these Paramount Sonic movies go five minutes without disappointing me?

Fr like the Mario movie pulled off a faithful soundtrack so there’s no excuse for Sonic but I haven’t seen the latest movie yet so I’ll wait to comment on that movies soundtrack
