There can be a couple of explanations other than the fact that he gets completely destroyed in this fight, that and well besides him being a badass metal was always the superior metal copy of sonic so they just ended mecha here

Canonically speaking if you beat Mecha as you can see in the video he is broken beyond repair (unlike Metal who usually just falls after being defeated) and most likely his pieces have fallen into the ocean so I doubt Eggman could bring him back or make a replica similar to him. If we speaking realistically Like the guy say above. Mecha is mostly just another robot Sonic compared to Silver Sonic or Metal Sonic. And we all know who SEGA is going to keep using for being the most popular robot.

@@edwardgaines6561 I think Its because his "super Form" is basically overcharging himself with the energy of the Master emerald, and not an actual super Form like Sonic, so he eventually runs out of energy and becomes vulnerable. Its clear that he was not built capable of keeping that energy long enough, he has to recharge constantly to keep his "super Form", but while he's at It he's basically as invencible as super Sonic itself. Mecha simply does not have an actual super Form, he Just overcharges himself with the Master emerald's energy so he gets stronger than he actually can, but It doesnt last long enough so when It runs out he gets himself vulnerable for Knuckles to attack him.

He actually does stop needing to recharge in phase 2, just that he has moments of losing power. I feel as if it is a case of "you can't be perfect". Due to not being an actual living being, there is no physical strain to using it, but keeping the energy output stable is impossible.

And this is literally my favorite boss / character from sonic, its extremely underrated and his details is amazing. and its literally the final boss on knuckles mode. Still going to be the coolest boss in sonic franchise

Unlike the real Super Sonic, Super Mecha Sonic uses the Master Emerald to go Super AND Super Mecha Sonic can fire energy blasts. I wonder what the REAL Sonic would transform into if he ever used the power of the Master Emerald......Sonic transforms into Super Sonic when he uses the Chaos Emeralds and transforms into Hyper Sonic when he uses the Super Emeralds

Mecha Sonic has a cooler design than Metal Sonic. We need him back, he is so awesome. The first villain to use a Super Form, the first robot to use a Super Form, the first character immune to Super / Hyper Knuckles.

@@steampowered6883 Pretty sure Silver Sonic's original name was "Mecha Sonic", shown in the Japanese artwork design (as in a joke/refrence to Mecha Godzilla), the reason why the name got mixed up was because the Americans instead decided to name him "Silver Sonic" and you know the drill. They also decided to name him "Robo Sonic" in "Lego Dimensions" to differentiate him from Mecha Sonic (the one from "Sonic & Knuckles) but in reality, this really just confused a lot more people.

He at least got a full on character revival in the IDW comics! I'd say that's pretty damn good, and he's guaranteed to come back in the comics at a later point in time. Maybe one day we will actually see him featured in a game again.

Fucking seriously, Sega? So, here's the ending: You complete Lava Reef zone and then you spend 2 seconds in Hidden Palace zone, and get transported to Sky Sanctuary zone. What's that? Should we make a new, harder, more challenging version of Sky Sanctuary for Knuckles only?
