Even among different alterations of characters, unless specifically explained, they should share attributes especially in personality. For example, Spider man’s attitude is similar across media unless specifically made distinct to contrast or as multiverse shenanigans. Sometimes movie Sonic acts like Sonic and other time he acts like he’s trying to be a PG Deadpool, which isn’t what Sonic is and is made that way in the movies in an attempt to appeal to casual watchers. Even then, it’s unfunny and falls flat, that’s why people usually don’t say that Sonic is the highlight of his own movies when he should be the thing that makes audiences come back
