Am I the only one who doesn't like the original Sonic on the Genesis? I just cannot like a game where the majority of the zones are poor and counterproductive to what Sonic is supposed to represent. Only two zones in the game were actually good. The other four were slow, tedious, and broke the whole point of the game. Sonic 2 is good until Metropolis, then the horrible endgame causes the game to fall flat on its face. And the final boss is overrated. It is mostly just a frustrating waiting game for the boss to bend down a total of 16 times, unless you want to risk getting early hits in with your flat 0 rings. Sonic 3 & Knuckles, on the other hand, is fantastic. I liked every single zone (including Sandopolis).

This one guy recreated the Sonic Genesis GBA game and it had none of these problems. And the reason why the Sonic Genesis GBA game sucks is because they used the Sonic Advance Engine and were trying to do Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis graphics.

***** Being fair, I hate it for story and being that I got the PS2 version I think it's graphically disappointing. Those sped up cinematic sequences are really a weird problem. However, I actually did have some fun with this game. My favourite run was team dark because for the most part I could get away with just playing as Shadow, until it came to rail grinding (which I'm convinced is freaking glitched when it comes to switching between rails) at which point I always switched to flight formation as a contingency plan for the inevitable rail switch screw-up. I like Chaotix because it was unique, other than the odd stage which pissed me off. I liked Team Rose because it was short and sweet, and about the most I could suffer of the typical switch from team mate to team mate that the game had you do with most stories (Dark had this, don't get me wrong; I just found I could get away with ignoring it most there; there were times where I'd use other characters and enjoy it, certainly, but if I needed to be in a level where I wasn't in speed formation at LEAST 80% of the way through I started to be irked). Ironically enough, it was actually Team Sonic that left me most dissatisfied. It strikes that awkward balance between short and sweet (like Team Rose) and long and interesting (like Team Dark), sometimes resulting in the best levels of the game, but often resulting in a middle ground which dismays me. All I'll say is that Emerald challenges annoyed me from the fourth one onward, and because of that I've never experienced final story. I took a brief interest in the "challenge" stages but never really did them all. If I had access to the game still I probably would go back in and do them, but I'm finding they weren't exactly leaps and bounds above the "challenge" stages from SA2, so I can't say I was blown away. xD;

My theory as two why this game is the way it is 1. SEGA wanted to make a remake of Sonic 1 to celebrate sonics 15th. 2. SEGA needed to focus on Sonic 06 to get it finished ( Sonic Team was struggling to finish the game , how shocking ) and they had like 1 or 2 people work on the remake. 3. They were barley given any time to remake the game from the ground up , and SEGA wanted a remake , not a port. So they were given barley any time to remix the music , properly emulate the physics, ect. So they couldn't just emulate the original, because SEGA wanted a remake to celebrate sonics 15th , not a port , so they had to go again and get it done as fast a possible. Just a theory, but it holds a lot of water to me .

One way to prove that the physics are different is by playing the first special stage. In Sonic 1 you could not press a single button and you'd get close to the Emerald, but not get it. In this port if you try the same thing, you won't get past the first rotate tile.

Most KZbin users get home between 3PM and 6PM. When people jump on KZbin they will watch a vid at the top of their Home Feed. They then go to bed around 10PM. When you upload a video this late, most people won't even know its there because by the next day all their other subs have pushed your vid out of the home feed. You can get more views if you upload around 8PM EST/PST so the most people can watch it. Just a tip since I've noticed a bunch of your vids have been coming out later and later

Actually a hacker didn't debunk that, the awesome stealth (demo-ish) version of the game was a proper port of the original code (or at least, a port of reverse engineered original code) to the GBA, not an emulated version.

The Pumpking King I would beg to differ on that. I've heard that someone else took the game, and actually did it where it wasn't as bad, moving faster and things like that. And when someone else who isn't even from Sega can do it better than they did, that just means they were lazy and just didn't care like they should have. It wasn't the hardware at all. It was Sega. Because if they tried, it wouldn't have ended up like this.
