Got to be honest I don’t blame Shadow for assuming that the virus can’t infect him. I mean Project Shadow was designed to be immune to all diseases so that his blood could be reverse engineer to cure Maria. Sadly it seems that his assumption was wrong.

I agree to a certain extent since although shadow was the ultimate lifeform he is only immune to biological diseases the metal virus appears to be a somewhat a nano tech virus where it converts organic material into programmable metal, and I think that he let alone Rouge would understand that this was out his league and his status ain't gonna help him(unless he has some sort of doomsday trait where what effects him once won't work a second time but that's beside the point) here they just make him look arrogant and reckless, I understand that he had to be written out because of his power but it would have been better if he did something more akin to what happened to Tangle maybe a zombot snuck past omega and tried to go after Rouge a resistance soldier or a refugee and it just got a lucky hit on him and because sonic was gone he had to deal with the zombots omega couldn't handle and he got overwhelmed

The thing that interests me is how Shadow thought he was immune, but how wrong he was. I feel like the reason why he was susceptible was because the virus _isn’t_ a disease. It’s all mini-nanobots designed to mimic a virus. With everyone labeling it as a “virus”, Shadow couldn’t have known that it was artificial, let alone not even a disease at all.

That actually makes sense when you think about it. The Metal Virus also doesn't have any symptoms aside from it consuming you when infected. The Nano Bots are also really small. So when Sonic burns them off. I assume some of them survive his speed. Which is also why burning them off doesn't cure you. The Nano Bots probably hide deep in your body, maybe in the blood. Considering fully infected Zombots can regenerate from even the most severe injuries, the Nano Bots after consuming the host, just converts them into a sort of biological Robot. It could also be, since the Metal Virus acts like a virus, it can reproduce and clone itself enough to just regenerate the Host from damage. Kinda like Iron Man's nanobots for his suit. Being able to undo the damage done to it. Also infection happens immediately after contact with a Zombot, probably because the Zombots are covered in those Nano Bots. They stick to a non infected by the slightest touch.

Fun fact: the scene where Shadow is holding back the zombots Flynn had planned for Shadow to take off his inhibitor rings and use full power but in the end still lose to the infection. However, that plan was scrapped by Sega because they wanted the story to focus on Shadow’s and Sonic’s rivalry 😑

Everything that's happened was because he didn't end Eggman in Windmill village, at least from his perspective. Even though it wasn't stated, he probably blamed himself as much as he blamed Sonic, and that only fueled his anger. His anger and pride kept him from thinking straight, which led to him being infected. That's at least how I see it.

Awesome job as always, everyone brought their A-game with this one. While I also have no love for the Sega mandates for Shadow's personality I did hear a great fan theory explaining some of his abrasiveness. It goes that since the last time he let a villain go, said villain, Infinite, became a world threatening terror. He was indirectly responsible for creating the deadliest foe he and his allies ever faced, witnessed him and Eggman take over the world, using replicas of his own image no less, and in the end he only played a supporting role in his defeat. The Sonics and the hero fixed his mistake. All things considered Shadow becoming more rash, prideful and violent due to the events of Forces don't seem too far-fetched.

To those who don't know, the original plan was for Shadow to unlock his inhibitor rings and instead use the energy output from those to combat the infection as an alternative to running. But Sega vetoed it, as they wanted Shadow's characterization to be written in a specific way (an overconfident rival, ala Vegeta). Hence why he's so OOC here.

YES!!!! THIS MACHINE!!! HECK YEAH, I love the ost in this series!!!! And Team Dark's VAs? Perfection (are they new or am I imagining things?). Really like Shadow's voice, a very original take that fits very well (not too deep and slow like the 4Kids and SA2 voice and not too edgy and try-hard like the current one, just right). Rouge's voice is also a highlight, sounds very mature and serious with that hint of sexyness and playfulness that fits her femme fatale character. Omega tho? Nothing to say other than chef's kiss, the robot voices are always good (the sound mix on Sonic infected voice is godly). And we flawlesly passed the most infamous episode in the series. Shadow my friend, you got beaten by your own overconfidence, and Sonic and Rouge's poor choice of words (you know how Shadow gets at the mention of retreat, "run" is the last thing you need to tell him).

A lot of people talked about the writing of these issues being angry with how Ian had written Shadow (even with the guidelines for SEGA) but I keep coming back to this dub because you guys did such a great job to make Shadow sound at least more in character. For those curious as to why Shadow let the Zombots touch him, as the Ultimate Life-Form, his initial purpose was to be immune to all known diseases on Earth. That way, his blood could be used as a miracle cure. So naturally, he would assume he'd be immune to this virus as well. Thats why he was shocked when he got infected.
