Today I review one of the most well known classic Sonic fan games in the community, Sonic Time Twisted! This game was truly something special and had so many ideas the official series could benefit from seeing and I wanted to give my honest and fair critique on the game to show all of the greatness it has to offer, and where it's faults are.

Thanks for reviewing the game! One note I will mention is that Big Rings are placed near time travel posts after you time travel. Thus the rings are a bit harder to find because it is expected that the player will be looking for them around the points where they time travel. This is mentioned in the read me but otherwise is something the player will have to come to understand on their own.

Ohhhh that’s pretty clever in full honesty, I’m just used to the 3&K method I never thought about it that way, I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future play throughs! Keep up the great work!

One thing that I wish you mentioned is the ability to roll into a ball after bouncing on a spring or walking off a cliff and subsequently activating whatever jump ability you have. And I wish you got the good ending before making this, because we have a SUPER SONIC CANCEL! 😁

Great job as always! I played a very little bit of this but Im def gonna have to go back and play it since CD&3K are my fav Genesis games. I also have a fan game suggestion I'd like to see you cover. Any interest in doing Sonic World? It's 3D and has ALOT of content so it could easily flesh a video out.

I always loved the vibe that this game's story, music and visuals bring. It's like this dark, but still cartoony, science-fiction setting that reminds me of stuff like Samurai Jack or the atmosphere of the faulconer score DBZ

Sonic time twisted is my favorite 2d Sonic fan game! I like the visuals, special stages and I love the time travel mechanic. I also enjoyed the soundtrack a lot. My favorite stage is the Raging ruins zone. I like the soundtrack, enemy designs and visuals the most in that zone in both future and past versions.

Great video analysis dude, this game doesn't get enough attention as it is. You should look at Sonic After the Sequel by Lake Feperd, its great in a different sort of way than Sonic Time Twisted is, and its soundtrack is pleasing to listen too.

Bro the soundtrack was great idk what you talking about. Planetary Panic BGM was such a banger that I have it on my phone and play it while at the gym. Also I understand that for a first time player with a S3&K mindset the Jewels are hard to find but a protip is to look for the Time Posts and check the surrounding area and you might find a Giant Ring and if you dont use the Time Post cause sometimes they are just right where the time post sends you. I'm starting to replay the game cause someone told me they ported it to Linux and while back in 2017 I think I use Wine while playable back then it wasnt as smooth as today Wine and nothing beats a native support so I wanted to give that a spin. This game was released just before Mania so it was a great way to get that classic Sonic fix until Mania and it was fun then and fun today.

i absolutely love this game but one this i...am not fond of is the good ending SPOILER: you literally KILL Galaktnik. No explosions, no anything JUST STRAIGHT UP GORY BLOODIED HOLE IN THE FACE this really kills the immersion to me and was kind of a shock really

Definitely not! Were these games should have came out after the mania they came out before the mania. While we waited for the mania 5 years ago. Sonic fan games and Sonic like indie games like spark the electric jester came out. I'll never forget the glorious year of Sonic 5 years ago. And the glorious year of Sonic 2 years ago. And this great glistening year of Sonic this year and for years to come.

I may think that this game suffers from certain issues that I've always had with the classic games in their entirety, but to me, Sonic Time Twisted is still great. Out of all the main classic games (CD and the main trilogy), CD is by far my least favorite, and Time Twisted, in my opinion, is what CD didn't have the balls to be.

@@isaiahdemeule8090 The game’s levels emphasize exploration more than speed, which honestly wouldn’t even bother me as much on its own, but the thing is, you can only actually get something out of the exploration by destroying the robot generators, which can only be destroyed in the past, and getting to the past requires going fast for about five seconds straight, which CD’s levels, being more exploration-focused, don’t really lend themselves to, so do you see the problem here?

@jaredargento1511 this mechanic makes you to try and find things around the level that will help you time travel easier, springs next to each other, a good straight route, some sort of slope you can travel across, I believe this encourages exploration, and memorization of the levels

Your dogging on SonicCD is literally a skill issue. No ifs ands or butts. The levels in CD are incredibly short. Its only maze like and potentially confusing if you choose to explore for the optional good ending. Adding to that, exploribg means finding clever ways to exploit the level design to travel to the past or future. Somethibg that takes skill. You literally just want to hold right and interact with a cool thing every now and again.

NO Sonic game is hold-right-to-win! Not even Forces (I would know, I’ve 100% completed that game twice)! Also, “skill issue” is a very poor argument to make. I could get skilled at Bubsy 3D and still call it an abomination of game-design. You need to realize that your opinion is not the only one that matters in this world.
