well this was a review I wasnt expecting to see I’m surprised you found mecha ridley that exciting ngl, to me is kinda free even with 100%, though then again mother brain is my fave boss in this game, to me ridley was disappointingly easy compared to super and kraid is just annoying lul. I think Black Knight, along with Sonic Battle, is often overlooked. Apparently there are some enthusiasts about it, although usually I feel like these games don't get the spotlight. And yes, I consider myself an enthusiast about this game, too. I was relatively convinced I knew what the story was trying to tell. Namely, Caliburn and Nimue don't just test whether Sonic has the potential to be a knight, but to be a king. A knight can run away, but a king can't. When Merlina almost kills Sonic, he doesn't give up. That's why Caliburn turns into Excalibur. At least I think that's the case, although it's not my own observation. But what you said at 6:48 sheds a new light on that perspective, I think, namely that Sonic is a hero rather than a king. I'm not sure where their qualities differ. I suppose a hero saves people, whereas a king protects them. A hero acts out of determination, whereas a king acts out of duty. They are similar, I think, but not the same. So that's an alternative reading of the story and I think there are reasons to prefer either of them. So I liked the story segment of the video and it made me question what I thought of the story previously. Sadly, I think you do the game a disservice when talking about the gameplay. It's easy to say there's not much to it because you can mostly get by using the jump attack, but that doesn't mean there is no depth. I think there is, but it's not required and the game hardly tells you about it. P.S.: The formatting in your description is broken.

My favorite scene of the game is the cutscene before Sonic and Blaze’s fight when he answers his name and his master. Blaze: “State your name and your master, sir!” Sonic: “I’m Sonic! Sonic the hedgehog! I have no master except the wind that blows free!” Blaze: *thinking* “Very well, Sonic, Knight of the Wind! Prepare… for battle!” I think the pause that Blaze (Sir Percival) has to this masterless knight is great. With all of the knights we challenge being loyal to King Arthur, I think this introduction of Sonic’s knighthood perfectly defies the others’ expectations of what a knight is and what they should be fighting for. And the visible hesitancy/unknowing of how to address such a challenge to the status quo perfectly encapsulated Sonic’s character and what he was fighting for.

I have the 3DS version of this game, and I would say its the hardest version of any of the ports that are 3D. Spider-Man Edge of Time on DS is a completely different game that's not that good. The DS version's art style sucks, gameplay is Janky, and the story is okay.

So... Adventure philosophy, Unleashed Opening levels of animation, and Black Knight story telling are the key words in creating The PERFECT Sonic game.

Sonic looks hideous in 06 and unleashed. He doesn’t even look like he has spikes, he looks like he has tentacles. SA2 is the greatest Sonic has ever looked.

I like your way, but I think another way could be having Sonic's body allow itself to absorb the emerald energy permanently, allowing him to go super whenever, however then show off a villain that far surpasses Super Sonic, making Sonic have to track down either the chaos emeralds, or a new set of power sources to evolve the super form, even if just for that game.

This game makes me hopeful for the future of Sonic and it’s my favorite game

A good compromise would be - no joke - Sonic 06. You have the adventure playstyle for the Adventure fans but also the mach speed section for the boost fans.

Mephiles is by far the greatest sonic villain because unlike all the other villains the only way to stop him was by erasing his existence! The best way to bring Mephiles is that he had a contingency to where he saved a small part of himself in case he failed he would be able to regenerate and recover his power His biggest advantage just like from the game no one knows who he is and what his intentions are, no telling what he will do but undoubtedly it will be whatever he pleases.

shadow is the only person mephiles physically fights, so it makes a lot of sense for him to return in sonic x shadow generations as a boss fight! it would be really cool to see him again and the remix would be fire!

While I agree that the Adventure formula is better, we shouldn't abandon the Boost. It can be used very well in tandem with Adventure-era physics allowing Sonic to capitalize on his momentum or even redirect it to avoid a crucial mistake

Looking back, I think Sonic is a flat character so he can help develop other characters like Tails, Knuckles and Shadow.

Sonic doesn't need a reboot. Just play Sonic Robo Blast 2. It's the greatest Sonic game of all-time. However, if a reboot was to ever happen, it should be like that game. I disagree on going the Adventure route and being more story focused. I also disagree on Classic Sonic being "padding." Sonic was never serious and dark to begin with. Before Adventure 1/Modern Sonic, the series was always lighthearted and fun.

I feel like you only like the game for the story and Sonic's characterization rather than the gameplay. Sorry, but a game with bad gameplay is a bad game. Story shouldn't matter. Especially in a Sonic game. I will say that Sonic was out of character here. Sonic wouldn't really kill someone and/or something. He wasn't rude before Black Knight.
