@Link Yea, but here is the difference between Sonic and Mario. Sonic runs faster while Mario on the other hand jumps faster. If he used a invincible powerup like Star or White Leaf then he would pretty much take damage to Super Sonic. White Leaf is invincible just like Star is but Star only lasts for a short amount of time. So White Leaf could have been useful at the point. However, there is another way to find out why Sonic won is because Base Sonic cant walk or swim in lava but if he went Super or Hyper then he could because the form is immune to lava. Mario in powerups like White Leaf, Mega Mario or Star Mario cant survive in lava. So that is another reason I think it was the only reason why Sonic won to Mario. I understand dude that you feel upset about the animation but sometimes the truth hurts to be honest when I found out that Mario lost to his Mega form I felt very sad and confused. But, I did not want to dislike because this guy worked very hard on the animation.

Sonic wins in speed, Mario wins in strength, but overall, Mario just wins. That’s for base forms, even if I never said anything about them, I am now. For power ups, I say with hyper sonic, it could be a tie. Now I’ll explain why Mario will beat sonic. As I said before in my comment “Mario being able to react at MFTL+,” that’s not his only feat (of course). Mario has lifted a castle weighing a lot of weight, I won’t explain how much exactly, but Mario HAS lifted it without struggle and kicked it away easily, this came from super Mario world. For durability, I’d say Mario still wins in that. He survived a massive explosion in a mario tennis game (forgot the name). I know it’s just a spin-off, but it’s confirmed that anything licensed is canon. Don’t say smash is canon, because Nintendo never really wanted to make their characters fight eachother. Until sakurai happened. I would say he survived a supernova in super Mario galaxy, but rosalina helped him survive it. He also fought and defeated dreamy bowser, (with Luigi) which is multiversal. And the bros were just in base form. Mario has a lot more Feats that I won’t explain.

@Dark Mario Actually starman + Bottomless gloves is infinite. Bottomless gloves grant Mario and infinite amount of power ups, so he can just recycle and reuse his starman without ever having to return to base. Also, it depends on how many ring hyper has. He can last 50 seconds at minimum.
