I think he at least knows of Elise since she’s famous, but not on a personal level. If the question had specified her as the princess of Soleanna, he might’ve said something like “Oh her, never met her but everyone seemed to care for her. Her kingdom was a nice place to visit, especially during the festival”.

Sonic running back is him checking out the festival, but he doesn't remember who Elise is, other than she's the princess of Soleanna, nothing more. Shadow doesn't remember due to it either, and neither does Elise herself.

I remember being a 14/15 year old misanthropic angsty teenager watching your reactions to Sonic Boom and now I'm 23 and life hit me like a freight train but I'm still here and you're still here and that's awesome. I was ashamed to be a Sonic fan and a furry and alot of other things in High School but now it's just a part of me I have to accept.
