Last minute or so of Early American sounds like a shark swimming at high speed, deep in the ocean in the dead of night

German release only back in 83 on Zensor Records. My copy has Confusion Is Sex and Kill Yr. Idols superimposed on top of each other.

Kill yr idols is the best no-wave song ever by far.

first time listening, but it immediately sounds like they hanged out with Swans at the time. To think, how many years I thought Sonic Youth were colleagues of Stone Temple Pilots and the touring -fest staples like Pearl Jam. Smh... I hope they reissue Confusion/Kill Your Idols on LP!

the second Shaking Hell, the live one, might be the best existing recording of Sonic Youth's music. this ep is mad underrated

I liked Sonic Youth more when they sounded like they were ripping off Teenage Jesus and the Jerks.
@KnifeWoundGirl Жыл бұрын
You can say that every no wave band of the era ripped off teenage Jesus and the jerks Lydia lunch is like the catalyst for everything no wave except for the band mars they were the OG
@skaldlouiscyphre2453 Жыл бұрын
@@KnifeWoundGirl Definitely. I just meant I like their material before they found 'a sound of their own', so to speak.
@KnifeWoundGirl Жыл бұрын
@@skaldlouiscyphre2453 you can find hints of their no wave past in some of their later stuff but unfortunately it will never fulfill the primal energy they had during the no wave era

Although the magic isn't there yet this is a decent effort by the group from their early days. Good that it's here.
