Drummers like Steve Shelley are literally one in a million. Sonic Youth would never had reached their peaks without him

My band opened for them during this time,and i saw them multiply times during 87/88/89- 92. Steve eas amazing back then;the whole band was just too!

Metallica is nothing compared to sonic youth and Steve is the most musically balanced drummer in rock. a BAND IS A BAND. sick of people trying to have "opinions" dont talk about shit you dont understand. just a suggestion. try learning before deciding what you want to believe. that said, Steve is the best rock drummer in terms of songwriting.

@@NOWtheband It was the first time I saw them, just after the release of Sister. Already knew all their work up 'till that moment, and was a big fan. Sister is still their best album imho. They should have stopped early nineties.

No, as far as I know, there aren't videos circulating of those concerts... maybe in 'The Year Punk Broke', a famous 1991 documentary, you can find some stuff

the footage in that documentary are from another Pukkelpop gig (1991). Nirvana was playing the same day.

There is a funny pic around taken when this festival with Kim. Steve and Steve Albini. I guess Rapeman or Big Black were on the bill too. Great raw sound in this video, dude! totally wired.

nah sy have always been punk. Punk is just about thinking for yourself, not conforming and being anticonsumerist, and they held that up until they got signed to a major
