I think it deserves as much recognition as Daydream Nation if not more. My favourite SY album followed closely by Sister

Sooo many good albums came out the year I was born. I wonder where I was during this....I was either kicking my mom’s uterus or shitting myself. I shoulda been at this show instead

This song and this whole Sonic Youth era does not age. It is just as raw, loud, dissonant, jumbled and brilliant as it was back in the 90s.

Washing Machine was Sonic Youth's best album!
@edwardclark77055 жыл бұрын
It's tied with A Thousand Leaves. Washing Machine definitely marked the moment that they discovered who they were as a band, and just how much they were capable of. They were more than halfway there with Experimental Jet Set, but WM was/is unreal--completely new territory for what music could be.
@SonikJesus5 жыл бұрын
no. they have too many good albums to name one as the best

It's a serious shame they never played songs from this album and Thousand Leaves after their respective tours. Probably because their gear all got stolen... It's just a serious shame.

Washing Machine's my favourite SY album and I often start listening to it from this very song. Washing Machine-Unwind-Trouble Little Girl for a really nice set! And each time I complete the set, I'm like, I wanna listen to this again - from the top! And that's how I end up listening to the whole album each time.

That is relaxing . Wonder how nineteenth century composers would have reacted, upon seeing this live , during their lifetime . Peregrine.

The Live 1969 version of White Light/White Heat by the Velvet Underground was surely a point of inspiration for much of this fine song.

The album already prepared you for "The Diamond Sea" with this song, is like the younger brother of the final track.
