I have the Sonicake Rockstage and I couldn't be happier. I have put my GT-8 in the storage locker and I run my Sonicake through the effects loop of my Bugera. I am still in disbelief at how good these pedals are for the price.

Nice playing - rather than a 5 second example, you made this video a pleasure to sit thorough. And seriously, this pedal, especially the reverb sounded great thorough my monitors. Will need to check this out in person. Many thanks.

I bought this last year. It’s great, as it’s several great effects in one package and a comparatively small pedalboard footprint. Never played a Dumble, so I don’t know how accurate that is, but the effects are great, and put together they sound fantastic. I’ve used it to play everything from Smashing Pumpkins to Pink Floyd to the Clash. It’s versatile, and a great value. SoniCake makes, IMHO, some of the best micro pedals on the market. I know this sounds like I’m advertising for them, but this is a seriously great little multi- effects pedal, and it’s a great value for the money, whether your an amateur, bedroom player like me, or a gigging musician.

I have one of these and I love it. I put the comp at 12 for both knobs, the gain/tone at full and volume like 25%. Reverb at 25% and delay wherever. I really like this thing for its simplicity and it sounds just as good as any $$$ pedals I've ever used. Using the comp as just a pure volume boost works great too if you don't want to use the compression as intended. Couldn't be happier with this thing; 1 power cord, 4 pedals, you don't get overwhelmed with 50,000 effects like you might with a full pedalboard or modeling unit. If you need more than these 4 effects you should definitely have a purpose but this will take you verrrry far. I have this with a Ditto looper and at home I can make some awesome soundscapes. I have a deluxe reverb 65 as well and play in the normal channel because the reverb on this sounds just as good as the huge spring reverb tank in the amp.

This reminds me very much of my old 1989 Boss BE-5 multi pedal board with all the boss stomp box circuits in it together ! The only difference is with the boss I can't get a bad sound out of it, but it almost always nails pink Floyd and led Zeppelin stones tones are in there.

This is just one pedal board Sonic Cake makes. They make several types of small boards tailored to a specific styles and types of music. I've got a boss Katana which lets you configure it to whatever you want using the Boss Tone Studio, downloading any effect Boss makes straight into the amp. And the Katana sounds superb. This pedal may supplement the effects in the Katana allowing for the use of two delays, a phaser, a touch wah, you get the idea. By the way, if you want a Tap Tempo delay in one of these, Valeton (same company, different name) makes one.

For small gigs or small stages where my normal pedal board takes up too much space this looks and sounds great. And a wah and a xtomp and your set. Do the expensive pedal on my board sound better. Yes to me. But your audience might never know.(or care unless thier guitar players.) I'm getting one

Plenty of room left on your board with this one. Tone all the way on the overdrive? Hm, sounds like a Marshall Bluesbreaker clone to me. I have an original, and it's just the same!

I wonder if I could use an overdrive after or before this and gain some metal type tones when needed? Or a fuzz? Or wah pedal,-Sonicbar,-overdrive,-fuzz,-and then put a reverb and tremolo and chorus in the effects loop I should have about everything anybody would ever need.
@heyitsbriggs
@heyitsbriggs 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it totally works! I have this pedal and I run the OD as a "broken up amp" sound and it handles pedals really well. Firstly you can push it with the compressor as a gain stage for more saturation which sounds amazing for slide guitar; I also run pedals in front of it 2 ways: a tube screamer style OD to get SRV tones, and a higher gain pedal to get into really saturated rock/metal lead tones. Just picked up the Sonicake Shark pedal and it sounds amazing run in this way. The cab sim works really well for recording DI!

Not your typical review for a piece like this. When you said you were playing a 335 assumed you were going to show us how close to a dumble tone this thing says is possible. I was waiting for some robben ford,Larry Carlton licks.nonetheless great finger picking style. That style works so well with jazz .Good job
@kingstumble
@kingstumble 6 жыл бұрын
I bought one of these( because of the price!) I have a 335 and adore mid heavy Dumble sounds. It doesn't really get very close. If you don't want to spend a huge amount on something like The Dude or the Zendrive(which I also have) the Rowin Dumbler for about £25 will get you pretty close----it's much better than the Sonicake.
@mattbrillhart2922
@mattbrillhart2922 6 жыл бұрын
I purchased this pedal due to this review. It should arrive in a few days. The Dumble association shouldn’t have been made IMO as this is not D-style tone. I needed a small roots rock style pedal. This should do the trick. I’ll use it with a NuX Soild Studio.
@heyitsbriggs
@heyitsbriggs 3 жыл бұрын
You can get in the "dumble" realm by pushing the OD with the compressor. (Low comp, higher vol) It's not exact but the alternative would be buying a boutique pedal.

Definitely durable. I think to make the most of it you use several of the effects at once. When I throw a Big Muff on and have all the effects going, I get the damn close to a solid Gilmour sound (you just need a flange/chorus or an Electric Lady or copy to finish the job).

Why bother young guys? For $100 to $200 buy a used Roland Rack unit. Gp8 or Gp16 killer pro tones and effects for just a little bit more and at any volume. Quality not junk. Remember you get what you paid for. Better to invest your 80 towards Roland or Alesis quadraverb.
@bluwng

tangentz0007 have you tried one of these , if not how do you know it's junk? Same can be said for "young guys" who haven't tried a Roland how do they know it isn't junk. Everything is based on your opinion, and who are you again?

Your Roland unit looks to be a nightmare. This unit (as long as it works) sounds killer, will fit in the back of my Deluxe Reverb and is a no brainer to use. Surely Tangentz0007 you could afford one as a backup for your cumbersome used Roland. Try one out. You will be amazed.

Hey old timers i would say that anyone in the market for digital effects is not going to be interested in 1989 technology. That would be like buying an iPhone 6 for $200 when you can have a new Motorola with 2018 technology for the same price. Yes that is an apples to apples comparison when discussing digital technology. I can't even see myself buying 10 year old Line 6 technology. The speed that this stuff is developing...if you want the best rendition of classic pedals, spring reverbs, etc., you'd best purchase the newest gear that you can afford.

There seems to be a ton of these FlyRig clones out now. While the dirty sounds aren't blowing up my skirt, having that cab sim defeat switch is HUGE and not an option I see on the competitors. Going into a good IR can take an ok direct tone and make it amazing. Have you tried that yet? Usually the cab sim is the weak point on cheaper modellers, just like the actual speaker is the weak point on low end practice amps.
