First of all...I LOVE Sonicare and as a Dental professional i must tell you are not holding it brush incorrectly, please tip the bristles to a 45 degree angle to the gum line you are cleaning, and stop jiggling the handle. You paid for the brush let it do the work....

Please note that the motor in the Sonicare 1100/2100/3100/4100 Series isn’t the same as that used in the more premium Sonicare models. These offer up to 31,000 brush strokes, but it doesn’t achieve the 62,000 movements often quoted with the more expensive models. It is configured differently. As a result, the cleaning does feel less powerful/intense compared to some other Sonicare toothbrushes. Technically, more power or movements does mean better cleaning results. But, it isn’t quite as simple as this, there are more factors at play. The lesser power on offer here isn’t immediately obvious. Even for me and I have tested hundreds of brushes. The brushing sensation is slightly different. It is most noticeable if you have used other premium Sonicare toothbrushes before. They still do a very good job of cleaning the teeth.

Are you specifically looking for a Philips Sonicare toothbrush? If so this video has what you need: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4m9iGtnaN9rd8U I am not sure what you mean by breaking down stone? Perhaps you mean the hardened plaque called tartar or calculus. If so, this can only be removed by a dentist/dental hygienist. For tooth whitening you will need to go to the dentist. They can offer the best results and value for money.

8:24 Does different Sonicare toothbrushes and depending on the model offer a more powerful motor or all Sonicare models (from the very basic one like the CleanCare+ up to the most high end one like the Diamond Clean Smart) operate at the same speed of 31000 brush strokes ? I'm asking because as far as I'm aware Oral B has differences on the toothbrush motor with the most powerful ones are the most expensive ones like the Genius X. Thanks a lot!
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 4 жыл бұрын
The answer is no. All Sonicare models offer the same number of movements per minute. Sonicare's own website implies like there is a difference, but I have checked with their customer support and they advise there is no difference. They state ' all toothbrushes deliver the same movements per minute. It is only measured and described differently.31.000 movements are the times the shaft moves left and right while 62.000 are the times the shaft moves in 1 direction (meaning left is considered 1 movement and right another movement)'. It has been and remains confusing as strokes per minute and movements per minute have been used in technical specifications and marketing materials. Perhaps this intentional marketing confusion to make the premium models look more desirable as they appear more powerful?! You are correct that Oral-B are different and the more premium models offer more movements than the basic ones. In either instance, the basic power is perfectly adequate and any additional movements/speed is going to make negligible difference.

@@ElectricTeeth They clearly mislead their customers about number of movements per minute. Firstly, the way they count this frequency is not consistent (strokes/minutes) and secondly, they even have filter setting pertaining to this on their websites - on UK site currently 17 models are available with 31000 and 17 models with 62000 movements per minute. It would be good to see what is the frequency of different modes. Other brands do not have a problem with providing this information. Also, they do not provide info on the capacity of batteries. This lack of transparency + "not being keen enough on reliability" of their products have put me off from Soniacare.

Hello, I currently have a Phillips Sonicare 6100, which has 3 different cleaning modes, but also has 3 levels of intensity for each. My question is, which level of intensity is considered normal (regular 'clean' mode) when compared to a comparable Sonicare toothbrush without the intensity modes? Reason why I ask is my last Dentist appointment (May 2021, for a cleaning/scaling), I was berated by my Dentist for not brushing my teeth (which I have done 2 times a day faithfully for since I can remember). I usually use the regular 'clean' mode and on intensity #2 (medium). Maybe I am using the wrong settings? But to my Dentist during that visit, he flat out accused me of not brushing
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom. Clean mode with intensity 3, high is what most stick to and is comparable to a brush without intensity options from our experience. However, intensity 2 isn't bad. Are you brushing with the correct technique and flossing too?

Thanks! Out of interest why wouldn’t you choose to use the deep clean every time? surely this is more beneficial?
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 3 жыл бұрын
I don't feel it is necessary to use all the time. No problem to do so, but as a general rule you can achieve a thorough clean in just 2 minutes. The additional 1 minute of cleaning time of Deep Clean mode isn't going to make a significant beneficial impact on your oral health. There is no meaningful data that I have seen to suggest Deep Clean is better or beneficial. In short, the standard clean mode is more than good enough for the vast majority, providing they are brushing correctly etc.
@winniexu

Q about brushing technique! Are you supposed to just drag the vibrating brush across your teeth or are you supposed to brush normally using your arm motion like in a manual toothbrush? I feel like the motor on these causes less movement compared to the oral B, so not sure how well it cleans when you just leave the brushing to the electric toothbrush entirely.

Okay I have the protective clean 4100. Because my brush head fell in the toilet LOL I actually purchased the (W3 whitening head from sonicare that does whitening and plaque removal ) it says that it will remove stains within 3 days. But it says it only guarantees it if you use the (white+ mode ) on their toothbrush with their sink technology using a whitening toothpaste. So the question is protective clean 4100 does not have this whitening mode but I do have whitening toothpaste. Do I need this mode to really whitening my teeth or will the toothbrush itself with the bristles do the job. From what I understand the mode just adds 40 seconds or something after you clean your teeth for 2 minutes so you can concentrate on the front of your teeth 20 seconds on the bottom and top but I guess it actually feels different or something I don't know if it makes a difference? I'm about to return my 4100 to Walmart and upgrade to the 5100 cuz it has a whitening mode. BUT IF YOU DON'T THINK I SHOULD AND JUST KEEP THE 4100 AND SAVE MY 20 BUCKS EXTRA THEN I WILL IF IT REALLY DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE? LOVE YOUR VIDEOS THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 3 жыл бұрын
Short answer is no you don't need a whitening mode. The paste and the bristles on the standard clean mode are going to do basically the same job. This video gives and extra bit of insight: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKHOaYlqi6aLoZo True tooth whitening, rather than stain removal can only be achieved with bleaching agents available over the counter or via the dentist. Dentist is always the better and more effective option. Keep the 4100. I would not return it just because of 1 mode.

Yes fair enough that is the instructions in the manual, can't deny that. Not all will be using the app with the brush though, even if it is a smart toothbrush. Not really heard many dental professionals recommend brushing the tongue for this long or rinsing either. But some brushing is better than no brushing.

Thank you for this video! I got my first electric toothbrush last week - a sonicare 6100 protectiveClean. Your video helped explain the different modes. Mine came with a smart head, and I’m confused by its use. One place online said it pairs with my smart phone. The manual seems to suggest that its only use is to communicate to the handle for letting you know when to replace it, and to “automatically recognize the brush head and select the right mode and intensity” for that particular brush head. So, that implies different heads are for different modes? Your video made a comment that almost all heads will work with all modes, but, is the handle designed so that if it has 3 modes, I should get 3 different brush heads? I’m wanting to be prepared and have replacement heads available, but I have absolutely no idea which to get!
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 3 жыл бұрын
Pleased you found the video helpful Susan. In reply to your other comments, the ProtectiveClean 6100 will not/does not connect to your smartphone. There is no Bluetooth built into the brush to allow this. The 6100 does have BrushSync technology, explained in my video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ip-mYaOAn7iWpas Essentially, the handle tracks each brush head. It will alert you when to replace the head as well as selecting the appropriate cleaning mode for the brush head you are using, all automatically. In theory, you can have a different head for each different cleaning mode. Fitting that specific head will automatically select that mode. However, in reality, it is not necessary for most people. So I wouldn't really suggest 3 different heads. I believe you might find this video interesting too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6O4o6Gkh6-Uo6M I hope this is helpful to you.

Given that there is now newer models such as the Protective Clean 6500, Expert Clean 7500 and the Diamond Clean Smart which do you think would be the best overall toothbrush for Gum Health. I like the tongue option and I am looking to also purchase the Sonicare Air flosser. Is there a good bundle or package that includes additional brush heads and airflosser? Thank you for your guidance looking at making a purchase today would love to hear your thoughts.

Hi Javier. Honestly, I see no reason to switch if you have the Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100 and it is working well. The newer models might bring certain features that you like the look of, but they are not actually going to clean the teeth any better. Models like the DiamondClean Smart do have the smartphone app, but unless you are extremely committed and prepared to pay the premium price I would avoid it. You can still clean the tongue with the modes available on the 5100. Taking this choice will save you a reasonable amount of money too. If you are thinking of getting the Airfloss, just buy this separately.

Thank you for the quick reply I didn’t end up getting the 5100 after all. I ended up waiting to save up extra cash. I think I will go with the 6100 or the 6500 simply because I would like to have more control with the intensity of the brush. Thanks again for your input.

No problem. Would love to hear how you find the brush once you have used it for a while.

@@JavierRamirez-eq5tf Hi can you recommend which model has helped with your receding gums? I have the same problem and am overwhelmed by all the options but my gum health is the most important factor I need to consider.

Philips Sonicare produce' Soinc' toothbrushes. There is a category of 'Ultrasonic' toothbrushes, but Sonicare does not produce such.

Helpful, but it would be nicer without so many images of you actually brushing your teeth! Maybe some more shots of what the buttons on the toothbrush actually do would be more informative, and at least a bit less yucky to watch.
