I have used the Sonicare for many many years and decided to switch to Oral-B because of what you just said as far as it cleaning the entire tooth. However having said that I have found that I definitely prefer the Sonicare better as far as how clean my teeth feel when I'm done. Since I started using the Oral-B I have to brush twice to get the same clean feeling that I used to do with a Sonicare only once. So for me personally I would go back to the Sonicare

As a hygienist in the UK for 20 years, I’d agree and much prefer the oral B. I’ve had both and always go back to the oral B. Especially the new iO, which is very like the feel of the sonicare, but the round head shape makes it easier for me to clean the insides of my teeth and the gum line. A lot of my patients who have sonicare seem to struggle there too. That’s just my preference and observation.

Thank you, I have a lot of crowns (caps) on my teeth, so I feel it's more important to be extra clean on the gum line. My child would absolutely prefer the less noisy one, so it looks like the sonicare is the best choice for us.

Switched from oral b 3500 to oral b IO 5. Always using sensitive heads. I can barely feel the IO on my teeth and gums but it does such a better job at cleaning
@kbuzbee
@kbuzbee 5 ай бұрын
Currently using an Oral B IO9. I like it a lot. It feels a tad too aggressive but my teeth feel really clean. One point I think needs to be brought up regarding Oral B is you have to be really obsessive about keeping the head cleaned out (likely because of the “ports” along the shaft which can allow “stuff” to get in). Even with consistent rinsing the head will likely have a ton of junk in it after three months (yuck!). IMO - You need to remove the head, clean it and allow to air dry EVERY TIME you use it to minimize this. Sonic toothbrushes seem to suffer less from this but they still need cleaned regularly

I have used both daily for 10+ years. Personally I like Sonicare more. It feels better on my teeth, they feel more clean, but I’ve heard over and over Oral-B is better, so I also use that. I got Invisalign about 6 months ago, so I am brushing my teeth ALL the time now. It’s absurd how much I brush my teeth now, but I feel really bad for people with braces. That must be so hard. Side Note: I also travel for work a lot and when traveling I only bring one. Two is okay at home, but overkill for travel. When traveling, I only bring Sonicare. It just feels way better.

I've recently switched from Oral-B to the Ordo Sonic Toothbrush. No actual data to back it up, just personal opinion but my teeth feel far cleaner using the sonic toothbrush. Always found I had to follow up with a soft bristle manual brush after using the Oral b to get in between gaps in the teeth. With the sonic toothbrush I don't have to so for me, the sonic toothbrush is superior. With regards to battery life as well, the Ordo lasts 1+ month between charges. The Oral B is lucky to last 10-14 days.

I also prefer an Oral B as I think that, because it hugs the tooth, it leads to better cleaning. The only issue I have is, I a small mouth, and I still have 3 of my wisdom teeth. So getting far back is easier with a less wide brush. I really really wish they made round toothbrushes with a less wide toothbrush head. Would it be better for my specific teeth to get a Sonicare?
@askahygienist
@askahygienist Ай бұрын
Hmm, it’s possible a Sonicare may work better because it’s not as bulky with the slim oval shape..the other thing to keep in mind is when you brush in the back, make sure to close your mouth halfway and shift your jaw to open up the space near the wisdom teeth a little more.

@@bichu232 hmm, unfortunately electric brush heads tend to be harder in general because the powerful toothbrush needs stiffer bristles to withstand all that power. Thank you! Too bad I didn't see this sooner! I believe your contest now is finished. Still, I'm glad to get the comparison. I was inclined toward Oral B, because I've used that brand for decades now (several, each for many years) but noted that in reviews there tended to be complaints about the modestly priced models being too loud or rough, and my last one had two speeds, where the newer (Pro 1000, which has been widely praised) one has one and has the old nickel hydride battery. (The Smart 1500 has a lithium battery.) I also have had to return a couple of defective Oral B brushes recently, and reviews I've read indicate that I'm hardly alone in that. So I was about to give that up, or even go to a different brand but can be persuaded. I apparently can't be in the contest, but could you tell us whether having the lithium battery has any advantage except how long the toothbrush stays charged?🪥
@askahygienist
@askahygienist Жыл бұрын
So as far as I know, any series 1000 and above essentially has the same brush head movement. Some just come with extra features like more modes or Bluetooth connectivity. The Pro 300, 500, Vitality, and simple battery-operated brushes have a more simple rotational movement. I’m not really sure about the battery difference, I’ve personally used the Genius for years, and it’s still working!

Thanks for the information. I have access to both Sonicare and a Braun. They are both good, but I find Braun a better choice for me to handle since I'm handicapped. Much less damage to the gums in my general opinion. Wow, I had no idea Sonicare actually damages gums...neither my former dentist nor my mother's actually stated this otherwise, my recently deceased Mom would have ditched hers. She was particular about her oral care. I'm ditching her Sonicare just the same. No sense taking risks in further damaging my already receding gums.
