Thank you, great comparison. Isolated and definitly in the mix I probably would not be able to judge in a blind test which amp is which modeller or the real amp. Soundwise the top modellers are so close that it does not matter anymore which one you pick. It comes more down to usability, number of amps & effects, tweakability and such. I do not need hundrets of different amps in a modeller as long as I can get a good high gain sound and a clean sound. In my opinion the TMP offers both for me and the usability (without a PC) is far superior to the other modellers.

I've been a Fractal user for years...and a tube amp users for many more years. Anybody who thinks a modern modeller doesn't stack up to the real tube amp, when you take the time to tweak it to match, has his head up his butt,. Yes, they've reached the point where you really can't tell the difference. Particularly iin a recording. Live, there can be some differences in how they feel and how they sound in the room, particularly if you use FRFR speakers. But once we're talking about a recorded sound, YOU ARE THERE.
@heut43847 ай бұрын
Yes, I completely agree. I've been dealing with Tube and State Valves amps on every stage, gigg, and recording from the 80s - Current. During the earlier years, we knew, analog can't just touch our REAL amps - especially, RECORDING. Today, they are a lot beyond what I didn't expected. Lol. I had been messing my Fractal in the last 11 months, and man....I can't even hear which is a real amp anymore. Actually, my modeler's alot better than my amp these days. 😅
@Civic.7 ай бұрын
To be fair this was already the case even before Fractal. The fact is massive bands were using Digitech modelling live and the main reason they stopped was reliability issues not tone. As someone who has always had both tube amps and digital stuff and someone who could actually 100% ABX audio tests before I damaged my hearing, I've been reading ignorant comments from people about modelling for 20 years. Sure many companies did themselves no favours with their presets they shipped with devices. And man this also brings to my mind the amount of ignorant Blackstar hate over the years that made most people overlook the great TVP and Silverline amps. But the reality is there are so many great classic modelling devices and modelling amps and solid state amps that people mostly overlook and there is still so much modelling ignorance in comments I read online. Peavey and Digitech were some but not the only ones who were on it before Fractal came in and transformed a lot of opinions but even now Blackstar modelling is seriously underrated and it's even been interesting to see the opinions about the TMP evolve since release. Here we have in these comments Jason from Fender informing us that this Peavey model is actually unchanged in this update and the only difference now is the impulse curve updates. It's an amazing bit of info when we consider comments and comparisons made up until now and how opinions have suddenly shifted based on false perceptions.

@@MichaelLenz1 🤣🤣🤣 What a joke. No you can't. 100% you wouldn't be able to pick a tube amp from an amp sim from recordings in an ABX test. Even the best golden ears have failed. And if you think that the difference is sizzle or top end then I'm sure you have no idea what you are talking about.

There is high-end detail in the real amp and AxeFX that is missing from the QC and TMP. Could be the way they are EQ’d on the QC and TMP. The worse offender for high-end detail loss is the QC. More nuanced, fuller, happier to my ears, insides feel more expressed with the real amp. I would pay extra for placebo effect. Every effect contributes to the playability, entering the zone. I would get the QC or TM on a real specific gig need basis and would appreciate its realism, and besides it's the moment zone with the audiance rather than splitting hair. But if I am playing for me, and this is where evolution is happening in my life, and I am my own friend and will enjoy the sense of realness, fullness, then unless I have to decide based on need and practicality alone..so it would not be because I purely love it but its a job then, and not great at it cuz I have to choose affording one or the other.. except then, as a friend to me and relatively established I got the EVH 100W head for me. Mwah to me.

@@algorithm007ifyI wonder if it is because Fender is stuck in the 80s with a 44.1 KHz sampling rate (although, to give them credit, 32 bit is much better). Tonex, Boss, QC, etc, are all running higher sampling rates up to 192 KHz and the results are stunning. DSP operations will always have artifacts that can sound 'grainy', but by sampling much higher than audible range can help alleviate some of those artifacts to be 'out of band' and much less audible. I am sitting on the fence about buying a TMP and after reading the manual to source this spec has caused me more grief and hesitation than excitement. I try to let my ears be the final judge.
