I might also have some insight on this issue that wasn't mentioned in the video, as I had a similar problem in my car with a Kenwood head unit and Rockford Fosgate speakers. My popping was only noticeable at high volumes, but I think it happened at low volumes also, but it just wasn't really noticeable. I am going to outline the troubleshooting procedure that worked for me. First, do what the video said. Check all your wiring, and make sure your EQ is flat, no bass boost, etc. It could definitely be the solution to your problem, however, it turned out to be a different problem for me, which is why I felt the need to comment. Second, fade your head unit to each individual speaker and see if only one of them is crackling/popping. If so, it is probably an issue with that one speaker. This also did not solve my problem, because the popping happened on all of my speakers. Third, try another mode on your head unit. Such as, if you are always using your iPod via USB, then try plugging it into the AUX input and see if the speakers still pop and crackle. If they stop popping when you do this, then the problem is with your iPod or iPod cable. This was the problem that caused my speakers to pop and crackle. Cleaning them both with an air spray can temporarily fixed the problem, but it eventually returned. I ended up just moving all of my music to a USB drive. If all of this fails, you may have an issue with the head unit itself, or you may just not have enough power to properly run the speakers, as mentioned in the video. Also, remember to never turn your head unit up past 3/4 of its max volume, because it usually introduces a lot of distortion into the music. Hopefully this was helpful, and if all else fails, take it to a professional and have them identify the issue.

Another thing to add, he can fade the sound of the deck to filter more of the power towards the rear speakers (it's a setting I found to be useful) But definitely need an amp if the deck does not have a built in amp most after market deck amps that are 200 watt are 4ch which is 50 watt per speaker (saying there is 4 speakers total) best bet for power is a cheap 300 watt sub with a cheap amp for a average car stereo system. My information is based of personal experience, not expert experience.

I have a 06 civic and my rear speakers clip in the back with volume at 27 and up. Besides the solutions in the video would disconnecting them be an option? Before my current subwoofer n amp I had a powered sub hacked into the rear speakers wires due to not having an aftermarket head unit. There is a bit of extra wire that is hanging freely from the rear speaker wires with just electrical tape covering the exposed wire, would the exposed wire possibly be causing the clipping?

I have a pretty light powered amp Pioneer GMA4604 480W. Runs 40W x 4 or 120W x 2 bridged. I'm powering my front pioneer speakers with two channels and then plan on bridging the last two channels for a small sub. I'm looking at the Kick 10C124's "handles" up to 150W RMS. Does this mean that the sub is recommended to run at 150 W or is that the max wattage? With 120W would it be considered under powering the sub or will the sub will run weaker @ 120 W. I can't find many decent 120 W subs.
@mudkicker78128 жыл бұрын
When matching subs to an amp the MAX/PEAK power rating means nothing, same with speakers. If you can't find the RMS rating of an amp/speaker... DONT BUY IT! Your front speakers will run 40Watts RMS, your sub will run 120Watts RMS. I usually go off the rule of thumb of keep your sub as close to the RMS rating as possible. So the answer is yes. that's a good match. find the recommended volume for the sub so you buy it once. I don't know about your sub, didn't look it up. it needs to be a single voice coil 4Ohm sub. other wise you will run into issues.

@@Singh_Preet57 Yes, I did. The stock Honda speakers were the problem in my case. The 50 watt headunit that was built into the car by the previous owner was simply too much for those speakers. @Gman20023 ай бұрын
@@Singh_Preet57like most stock head units car manufacturers tune the frequencies to the stock paper cones so they sound acceptable. To fix your issue, you will first need an amp to give the speakers real power as they are currently underpowered and you need a DSP to tune each of the new speakers as frequencies, EQ, delay, need to be adjusted. This may be $$$ but will be worth it. I upgraded my speakers to aftermarket high powered and like you the sound degraded. My local audio installer mentioned I need an amp and DSP with tune.

I have a question. I’m sure you’re busy so I’ll try to provide all the info you would need here. Currently I’m using my stock Camry stereo. Non JBL package. JL Audio 400/4 amp. 4ohm. 75watts per channel. Kicker Component Set. 4ohm. 10watt minimum. 100w RMS. 300 max rms. Kicker component speakers, but the crossover was separated from the pair, as, according to the terrible installer I went to, it was pulling too much power from the woofer and causing it to be low volume. So the woofer was wired directly to the amp, and the tweeters were spliced in as well. So the amp is powering both. Without a crossover. My problem is twofold now. 1. My tweeters are distorting, they tried to remedy this by adding a capacitor. It’s not working. 2. My tweeters are much louder than my mid woofer. And I need to push the volume HARD to get my mids to really shine through the rest of the mix, and at the point my tweeters are distorting, and uncomfortably harsh. Plus, I know that without a crossover they’re likely to die. My plan is this. 1. Install an Alpine ILXW650. 2. Keep or remove the capacitor but, take that crossover that was intended for both speakers, and connect it in line AFTER the splice that connects the woofer and tweeter to the amp, but before the tweeter. I do this in the hopes that 1. The crossover works as intended, and will effect JUST my tweeters and 2. If it does in fact drain power, and I know a passive crossover does, then maybe it will bring the tweeter volume into balance with the woofers. Can you, or anyone else hear with knowledge advise if this makes sense?

Two things. If its what I think and its a rear deck? If you mount those 6x9s without the factory adapter straight on the metal, it'll cause it to pop and distort at loud volumes too. Found that out with my first car quick. Second, while you 'can' run speakers off a factory amplifier, I typically don't. You might be better off running new speaker wires to the aftermarket deck. Then perhaps upgrading to an external amp if its not enough.

The fact that my doors are now amplified means that my door dinger is noticeably louder. My headunit has settings for a lower ding sound, but it's still too loud. Is there anything you could do to lower the dinging sound without negatively affecting the SQ of the audio.(obviously lowering the gain on the amp will lower the ding sound but that will also lower the output of the speakers) Gains are set below clipping as well. Thanks, Terry

Hey guys, I really appreciate your videos and i have a question. AMP= Kicker CX A1200 SUB= Kicker 10 inch L7 Solobaric Speakers= 4x Kicker 6 3/4 Ran well off of my normal truck battery but i was wondering about how long i could run it off of my new 120 AH deep cycle. Should i upgrade my alternator (I think it's over 100 amp) and do the big 3? Thank you again and have a great day.

I got a question. I have a 2012 Silverado LT (non-Bose). I just replaced the head unit with a Pioneer FH-X720BT hooked to the factory speakers. A Kenwood KAC-729S pushing an Audiobahn AW-1008T in a standard .75 cube box from BestBuy. I have to fade the front to rear+3 because the front speakers are ridiculous loud. the Sub, all frequency's sound normal at 55 (SLA to -4) except with the kick drum hits. It sounds like someone kicking a door. I thought the Sub was 400 Watts RMS, maybe the sub isn't the problem. got any ideas? Bass Boost and Loud are off, bass is set to flat, and amp control on the deck is -3, 100% gain on the amp itself.
@festa2898 жыл бұрын
+Kevin Wayburn sounds like you need to turn up the gain on your amp and set it to low pass
@mudkicker78128 жыл бұрын
+festa289 gain on amp is at 100% and I use the head unit to adjust how loud it is. I replaced the sub woofer with a Planet Audio PX12 and it's loud as f***. I think my old Audiobahn is on its way out. 13 years of abuse. lol

Thank you so much for your time and info you share. Question, if I have component speakers that run 75 watt rms and it's only getting 50 watts rms from the amp, could this be considered underpowered? You spoke about clipping and distortion in this video and I am getting a little of both at different times in different songs. I'm just trying to rule out a few things to get it straight. Thank you again for your time. Tim

I had this same problem on my 2014 altima sv when I took out my factory speakers I regret that now so I ended up putting kicker ks 6x9 rear 6 1/2 front doors kept my 2 stock tweeter on front dash went to best buy got a alpine power pack install now my bass does not sound premium anymore 😲 now it sounds like it's in a cardboard box just cheap no more deep bass and I check my polarity I thought it was weird green was positive and red was negative it is louder now with no distortion but the base is just horrible my screws are in tight I order a braket for my front door speakers so I also hear that you have to break speakers in is this true and why the base sounds the way they do please help me out here

I just purchased a '03 Grand Am with an aftermarket Sony double din deck in it. I know the guy wired it pretty incorrectly, but i was wondering on how to fix it? It's wired to the cigarette lighter power source instead of the ignition source for one thing. I guess he didnt connect the antenna either because the radio doesnt work. I plugged in a brand new aux cable, and even at low volumes the back speakers (also aftermarket Pioneer something-or-others) whine, crackle and pop. Did he wire those incorrectly, too? Get back to me please, thanks!

Hey I have a good question for you guys. And some people might want to know as well. When building a box for a sub, if I make the box bigger than what is recommended and don't have a lot of power will it make it perform/be louder? And or if I make the box smaller than recommended and have more power will it be the same outcome? (Keep in mind they will be tuned to the same hz, and the recommendation box size is 1.25 cf.)

Mach stereo and it has the sub box and two amps, (one on each end), with the speakers 8x9

+KelJenn B My friend had an 03 with Mach system. We ended up ripping the amps out and rewiring the speakers off the head unit. best thing you can check is the auto volume and disable it.

I have a 2008 Mitsubishi lancer with the rockford fosquate subwoofer that actually came with the car. With my old system i can turn it up as loud as i want and it sounded great changed the stereo and if i try to turn it up loud even without the loudness setting on and it just makes that same crackling sound i never heard b4. The guy who installed it tried to explain it to me sumn about the system is accustomed to 1100 sumn and the stereo is putting out 1300 so that sends the extra to the tweeters on th car thatmakes is sound distorted... do anyone understand what he is talking about and can you simplify?

Question: my Chevy Silverado 2005 stock rear speakers are not working right when I turn the fade all the way forward the rear speakers get louder but are still very faint when I turn the fade all the way back they turn off the front speakers are fine it’s just the back ones it’s not the speakers themselves bought new ones and they didn’t work either
@ulrichsosro939910 жыл бұрын
so a 85W X 4 channel car stereo would mean a RMS of +40W. if that's correct than the speakers to be used must have a RMS value of +50W if u aren't going to use an external amplifier. is that correct?
@SonicElectronix10 жыл бұрын
Ulrich Sosro That is roughly correct. Most aftermarket stereos list RMS wattage so be sure to check. A 50W RMS speaker is usually a good match for running right off the stereo.

Hey guys, I have kenwood KDC-200u headunit in my 1997 dodge ram 1500 and here lately every time it rains it goes into protect mode and then the door speakers do not work. What could be the problem?
@RX91810 жыл бұрын
Sounds like maybe a bad ground to me
@mckenataylor977710 жыл бұрын
I have redone all my grounds and unfortanetly it still happens
@RX91810 жыл бұрын
Mckena Taylor By that I'm assuming you relocated your head unit ground somewhere else, right? ....other than a bad HU ground I can't seem to think of anything else that would cause it to go into protect mode. Maybe check your Wiring harness that its not creating a shortage somewhere. If you are using "butt connectors" this could be a possibility, due to the fact that they often fail and disconnect themselves on their own.
@mckenataylor977710 жыл бұрын
Brian Salazar Okay, I will run through the wires in my wiring harness and see if that is the problem. thanks man
@RX91810 жыл бұрын
No problem, hopefully you find the issue with your stereo. BTW, I forgot to ask if you are grounding your stereo to the factory ground from the car? Maybe this is the problem itself. I would run my own separate ground to a solid metal piece on the car. Also make sure to sand it to bare metal to get ride of all the paint and/or rust. otherwise if you don't, it would be as if you never grounded your stereo at all.
