This is footage from the David Gilmour performance at Live froAllianz Parque, São Paulo, Brazil on December 12th, 2015 playing the Pink Flyod classic " Comfortably Numb".
Gilmour was impressed by the Latin American fans. “This was the first time I’ve ever been to South America and I was quite excited. The venues were vast - we would play to 50,000 a night. The audiences are so fantastic and enthusiastic, but polite at the same time and it’s a much more even split between men and women.”
The band was:
- David Gilmour - electric guitars, lead vocals
- Phil Manzanera - High-strung acoustic guitar
- Guy Pratt - bass guitars, backing vocals
- Jon Carin - piano, keyboards, electric guitars, backing vocals
- Kevin McAlea - keyboards
- Steve DiStanislao - drums, percussion, backing vocals
- João Mello - saxophones
- Bryan Chambers - backing vocals
- Lucita Jules - backing vocals

Two pieces of wood, pickups wound a few thousand times as normal, a man with a gift and a backing band and vocals. You won't see another Gilmore after he is gone. You won't find another Masterpiece like Dark Side of the Moon either. I'm glad the youth of the world understands this. I'm almost 70. I have seen the band 4 times in 55 years. It never gets old. And never will. Pure genious.

Davidwilkirson- Bro. I completely agree with you. I watched Led Zepplin the other day and been watching The Who. I grew up in the 80’s. I just cannot believe the absolutely and complete total trashy, shitty, music that’s out there right now. I do not get it. Look at Zeppelin- top 10 guitarist, bassist and lead- EVER….The Who- same….top 10 guitarist and arguably best bassist to ever pick up and insane vocals. Same with all the other greats. And now what do we have…Taylor, Harry Styles, etc. Enjoy that crappy music you guys bc it doesn’t hold a candle to bands like this.

David is one of the few guitarist that can make the guitar express feelings. I don't know the secret, but he has it. This song saved my life when my parents divorced when I was 17. Now 61, blessed and saved, thank you Pink Floyd!

Yes, the feeling's there. I change one word when I sing along with this -- it's hard for me to say "have become", so I say "I won't become comfortably numb." And that's been true, mostly true, for over 40 years. I've even thought of it as my "parting song", the last one I'll go out with. If I could just play those riffs!

When you're in the presence of genius, you know it. You can see it in the faces and feel the emotions of the audience. I was lucky enough to see this great band twice in '88 and '94. Every time I hear this solo, I'm left sitting here absolutely numb from the sound and raw emotion it evokes in me. They don't make guitarists like David Gilmour anymore. He was and always will be a one off.

Eu estava nesse show. Felizmente anunciou outro show no dia 12.

It's so good to see so many young people in the crowd loving every second of this, singing all the words, crying with the ecstasy. I saw them in the mid 70's, never have forgotten it and it's fantastic that the generation that was there in this concert will keep this superb music, the likes of which is gone forever in modern music, alive. There is also the sad truth that that same generation will probably be the last to see this perfect music live, performed by the geniuses who created and played it.

I work in several regional schools. I see more PF logos now than I ever did in my teens, when the band was at its peak. They're not the only ones venerated by today's youth, either. I was blessed to live at that knife-edge moment where musicianship, accessibility, and an emphasis on live renditions crested. That level of mastery couldn't sustain itself of course, and it all crashed down into the quagmire that is "today's music". Thank God these masterpieces are recorded.

Almost two years years ago I got rid of old stereo equipment that was over 25 years old that belong to my late wife and bought some new stuff, amp, CD player, tuner, and four speakers for a medium size room. Because of this song when I was playing The Wall when he starts digging in on his guitar for the solo I knew I was missing something and bought a bass unit and the first thing I did was go back and played Comfortably Numb again and turned it up but this time I felt it the way he meant it to be heard. One of the greatest pieces of rock music ever by a Master.

I realized that musicians get better with age. More depth, more musical experience, more life experience, so many more dark corners explored and fleshed out in their solos. They know the songs so much better than that one day decades ago in the recording studio when the song was new to them too. I don't think Gilmour has ever played this the same twice, and I've never seen a live version that wasn't better than the studio version (which is still great).

Dave has probably played this song over a then thousand times, but he manages to play the second solo every single time in a different variation. The perfect symbiosis between a man and an instrument. And the band has the time of their lives. I saw them during the Pulse Tour; it feels like yesterday when I watch videos like this. Dave, a Genius, a Virtuose, simply the best!

It looks like most of the people in this video weren't even alive when this song came out in 1979, but that's the magic of David Gilmore and, at the time, Pink Floyd. Classic music is classic music, no matter how young or old. I was a senior in high school and knew from the first time I heard this song it would NEVER EVER get old to me...and even after more than 40 years, it has not...and this live version is absolutely mesmerizing! The raw emotion on the face of the girl at 4:19 is so passionate and moving it brought me to tears.. I wonder what was going through her mind???

This song reminds me of times when I wasn’t myself, facing anxiety and going through depression. Not being able to convey what I was going through. Feeling numb to the world and everyone around me. But to know that there is a breakthrough and what your experiencing is something that is leading you towards salvation and clarity. As if your shedding old skin and finding that key that unlocks that door you’ve been trying to open for maybe years. An awakening.
