I've got a platoon of the Warlord/Artizan plus some Black Tree Designs metals. A joy to paint. These look great & fill out the ranks a bit. I don't think I'd mix them in the same squad but otherwise they'll be fine on the table top together. As for the white stripes I painted a thick white line to the to the edge of the blue keeping the inside straight and tidy while not worrying if the outside edge was tidy Then I just painted a thin blue line to straighten & thin the white line back.

Count me as also very excited to see more historical miniatures by small companies. With 3D printing there's no need to make something popular to justify a big run, so lots of variety and little obscure things can be made

One thing that clouds the waters slightly is that the Soviets had a habit of referring to "marines" in several ways. The most common were actually beach/port defense militias which were called "marines" but were not naval infantry, and barely "proper" soldiers. It makes it confusing when reading battle and unit histories.

I have several squads of these - they were especially important in some of the port cities. I think many were sailors whose ships were blockaded or out of commission, so they were handed rifles and SMGs and used as regular infantry.

those are some WOW! level models and your painting style brings them to life. I just backed the kickstarter. will be fun to field these in a bolt action matchup

The figure looks great, I enjoy your videos as you are one in a handful of KZbinrs which paint Bolt Action related models.

A very unusual subject,, but very useful for Eastern Front wargamers/modelers, expecially in Crimea (!) there were a lot of battles involving naval infantry. About different shades of black, generally I use a black base, then highlight with different colours, as VMC Black Grey or VGC Hawk Turquoise mixed with black, so achieving different shades. Keep doing unusual uniforms, as those ones could be used also for other weird wars scenarios.

Could you paint tank commanders for ww2? You can print them for free with 3D breed. I enjoy your history lessons on the colour schemes when you pain lol. Love the channel.

I've got to try that blue for the shirt. All the dark blues I try have poor opacity and are shiny. I don't want to be forced to varnish just for that. The Naval Infantry were so hard-headed they largely eschewed helmets as they didn't think it was manly, and suffered a disproportionate number of casualties in its pursuit.

I always figured 'protect your brain case' was a priority, but... if I wouldn't look as cool in a helmet, then hmm. 😅

You could use Contrast, I just prefer the look of dark blues in traditional acrylic.

I like the look of them, more heroic scale than the other bolt action guys. And not made of metal either.

Just a tiny wee bit of water in the brush ordinarily, enough to make it flow smoothly while you're working.
