Decent themes in this review. Not all modular reviews are musical, this video is.

Excellent demo. I bought the zverb and echoz. They’re both good value for money. I ended up selling the echoz after realizing how much I like to externally clock my delays. I kept the zverb. It’s a great sounding reverb.

Can’t wait to get the Z5000 multi effects module! Don’t have space in my case for all 3 different modules but think the Z5000 would be a great combo to still have my verbs and delays and what not

Nice review. Thanks for confirming it’s an SD card slot on the back. Nothing in the manual that I could see. Wasn’t sure if it was a connection for the bus also mentioned but not detailed in the manual.

The 6:00 jam is spot on, Butterworth can 'play' modular.

I like saying zed5000, makes it sound futuristic and classy. I wish said axed and naught for zero here in the us, but saying Zed-verb, is just a deliberate affront to a good pun. Cheekiness aside (innit?), this guy always makes really great musical modular videos, very appreciated

My buddy has all three of these and I've gotten to use them extensively. These units are really great especially the reverbs since you don't miss the clocking option on reverb like you do on delay. Honestly the delays don't suffer that much from not being clocked in my experience, especially if you have one other clockable delay for those parts. These pair nicely with the 3 effect loops of the befaco hexpander for the hexmix. Super short cable runs to have 3 strong effects in the loops that are changeable on the fly with no repatch.

Delays effects without clock sync? Why???
@Station2524 жыл бұрын
FV-1 doesn’t support clock input, there is a way around it but the jumping between clock divisions is not smooth enough.
@nectariosm4 жыл бұрын
No point buying a delay without a sync input. Yeah good to have free running delay taps and get that phasey repeat delay or whatever, so just pull the clock. But not have it at all in the first place? Nope.

no point driving a bicycle when you can fly a turbo jet. why playing guitar when you can program the parts? Nothing is as black and white as you paint it. I personally got really tired of time synced delays, I have Chronoblob, Tyme Sefari and Echophone - non of those sound as good as EchoZ and sync from good to mehh... So tuning by ear is my preferred method but, if you absolutely need clocked delays then sure, get what you need! Saying ''There is no point...'' hm... there is no point in clock input when you never use it, there is that. There is a module for (almost) every need, choose the right one for you! Peace.

@@zvukoprocessor7205 But clocked delays are the equivalent of riding a bicycle with extra gears, not a turbo jet. A clock input is so common for delays and if you don't want to clock, don't patch it! Simple as that. Anyhow, they chose the spin chip from what I understand/read in the comments and I have a ZDSP, which has a clocked algorithm with 50% duty cycle clock, if I remember correctly, but for whatever reason they chose not to include tap tempo in this delay module. So for me, there's just no point paying 200€ for it, but you know, whatever floats your boat.
@chrisclepper86634 жыл бұрын
@@nectariosm I wrote every line of code on these modules, so here’s the reason ECHOZ doesn’t have sync: The original prototype had clocking, and while it was fine as a utility delay module, it really lacked a lot of the sonic magic that makes old tape, BBD and early digital delays so great. The Fidelity control was added, but because it changes the sample rate of the DSP it made clocking less reliable. Also, most of the programs on ECHOZ are modulated delays which do not mix well with tight sync, so the decision was made to go with the widest possible sound sculpting palette over more workmanlike sync delays. Maybe we will make the bland sync version some day...
