People forget that Sonny Liston had probably the most remarkable physical genetics of any boxer in human history. An 84 inch reach on a 73 inch tall man. That means he made the target of an individual only an inch over 6 feet tall, but he had arms the length of a man who was 7 feet tall, along with fists that were an inch bigger than Andre the Giants. No wonder he was knocking around heavyweights as an amateur.

his wingspan isnt actually that long because you measure it from one finger to the opposite finger,and if you look at a picture you can see that he has very long fingers each probaby about 9-10 cm so if you measure knuckle to knuckle his wingspan would be about 1,95 cm

All these people who say Sonny Liston was a good guy who was misunderstood are way off the mark. Sonny Liston was put on this planet to inflict pain. When he let loose he was a one man riot he stood his ground against police using night sticks on him and threw them around like empty tracksuits. He was a fighting machine steel jaw aggressive nature and unusually long reach and to top it off a left jab that could put you in a coma his left jab was harder than most boxers knockout punch. So i woulden,t be going up to Sonny to give him a cuddle and telling him i know you just want to be loved. it could be the last thing you ever do

Say what you like about sonny he was one of the most ducked fighters ever because they were all scared of him he was the most intimidating scary heavyweight ever. If George foreman says you were big strong intimidating then you should take notice he is very much a top 5 heavyweight of all time. Very misunderstood very much a guy wouldn’t want to mess with. Ali says he was scared he had to run from Liston because he didn’t want to feel his power but with George he let him hit him that tells you what Ali knew Liston hit harder and Ali didn’t want no part of that he was an awsome fighter.

First one wasnt fixed but Sonny was badly injured. People dismiss the shoulder claim because of the idea he threw the fights, but the medical examiners showed his shoulder was so badly inflamed he could barely fight. His knee was so bad at that point he couldn't even jog in training camp. In the second fight he was not only facing down the mafia but the FOI, who also threatened to kill him if he won.

They where never going to control Ali ,not that they even controlled Sonny ,they had his contract for a couple of years.You can see his head snap back you can see his foot lift ,Ali then continued to hover not allowing Sonny to rise , dangerous position,Ali was supposed to go to a neutral corner ,when he eventually did they proceeded too FIGHT ,how is that a dive ? Then Nat Fliescher of ring mag who had no authority and was sat next too the time keeper called the incompetent Jersey Joe over and told him the fight was over.Dempsey and Marciano at ringside said the punch was legit ,and Braddock said it was legit but is was probably the straight right just before that caused the most damage ,Gil Clancy who couldn't stand Ali said his fighter Alex Miteff who had never been dropped let alone koed was koed by Ali from the same punch .
