Any short pressure fighter who dared go at it with Liston, was in for a helluva night. To beat liston you had to be able to take a shot and frustrate em to take em out.

He was ducking him for 2 and a half year (since 1960). It is scary that Liston version is not even his best one.

Floyd started at 168 he was really a light heavyweight fighting at heavyweight, great amends to him for even fighting at this weight and becoming the second youngest heavyweight champion

The fact that he won the heavyweight championship shows how much it was weak in late 1956 (especially because Sonny was locked up at this very moment, Marciano retirement, plus big contenders like Machen, Folley, Williams, Valdes... not getting the connections to have a title bout). If it wasn't for Liston to be arrested, Patterson would still have been champ in 1956 because Sonny's was not even ranked back in early 1956 (poor management...). But eventually he would have become champ in 1957 or latest 1958.
