Henri de Lagardère Thanks for the slots. Knew Sonny quite well in Holland during the 70’s. Imo is he among the 3 best ever on alto. Charlie Parker, Sonny Stitt and Frank Morgan, and in that order. I’ve never heard this album, and for me not one of his best efforts. Sonny was known as “The Lone Wolf”. Rather aloof, somewhat introverted and a nice gracious man. But my god could he play!! Dig & Cheers!

@@ronaldunkel2681 ..if I had to pick 3 altos its probably those 3. Each one did alot of work in the afro cuban lane. Especially Bird. Well out of those 3 u already know #1 is Bird lol. And he loved our polyrhythms. Him and Diz of course. ...with the dream team, Machito's rhythm section..Buyù,Miranda,& Uba. And then adding Chino P,Candido,& Patato to those incredible dates. Invisible magic...just your ears are seeing that sleight of hand lol. And here we have the percusionista completo "Chihuahua" Martinez and the great Marcelino Valdes from the musical Valdes family. Both heavyweights in the game. Showing why imho the marriage between afro cuban and jazz/bebop was the best thing to come out of the jazz scene. Whether in its purist form "Cubop" or being added so delicately but oh so tastefully in hardbop in a swingin fashion, it was always 2nd to none. Tasty tasty or as we say...SABROSO! This is a sought for album in South Africa, collectors are killing for to get the album.The fortunate ones are guys how collectors earlier in the 70s and is a kept secret which is guarded with dear life. The release of this album on CD is long over due.

@@guaguancos.montunodcubop8923 I have place an order from a number of online our and waited for months only to informed that is out of print. Another disadvantage is that some of my overseas orders get lost along the way they never reach me. I have orders from Dustygroove and Freshsound intercepted along the way and that has affected me in a bad way. Anyhow thanks my brother for your input.
