If you have a smart assistant like Alexa or Google assistant which can speak to both devices you can setup routines to control the third party switches triggered by your ZigBee device. I used Wipro tube lights with the ZigBee motion sensor to turn my lights on automatically when we walk into the room.

Hi, Like your content, I recently decided to replace my WiFi devices with Zigbee, would you please explain how to for example, turn on a WiFi relay using a ZB device, I have a combination of devices installed in my home, I have Sonoff wall switches, Sonoff 4 channel mains relays connected to my different lighting circuits, a number of Sonoff smart plugs etc, all working fine, but they are all WiFi devices it's these devices that I would like to change to ZB. How do I make this happen programming wise? Regards Kevin
@TalkingstuffNet Жыл бұрын
You would need a zigbee hub, this hub would connect to WiFi and also to zigbee devices. Sonoff has a hub available, and also the NSPanel can work as a zigbee hub. The devices are then available within the ewelink app, and you can trigger WiFi devices to activate via zigbee switches, sensors etc.

Vinayak I am getting into a tizzy with these sensors. I have bought pir sensors and contact sensors. These are connected to Echo 4th gen. However they keep getting unresponsive in a matter of a few hours. Have tried rebooting them, repairing them, changing the wifi channels, have kept them right next to the echo to eliminate range issues, yet no luck. Any suggestions?
@TalkingstuffNet2 жыл бұрын
Ah, I'm using the sonoff zigbee hub to connect to the sensors. They do have a cooldown time which can be set via the app. But you seem to have no access to the sensors themselves in the list which would mean they're disconnecting completely. The sensors use zigbee and not wifi so changing wifi channels won't help. Also check the batteries, these devices eat through batteries quite fast.

@@TalkingstuffNet thank you for the prompt reply! Batteries are at 3.2 v stable. Would you advise that I use a sonoff hub or ditch the effort all together?

Can the motion sensor also trigger 'no motion' signal after some time of inactivity so that I can automate light switch off? Or only the presence of motion can be sensed?
@TalkingstuffNet2 жыл бұрын
There is generally a timeout between activation after which it would try sensing again, and if it doesn't sense any motion it can trigger any device, maybe to turn lights off.

Hi, thank you for watching. The routines have an option to set time between when it needs to activate. Set that up and it will activate only between the time specified. ZigBee is a low power standard especially used for home automation, they can be battery powered. ZigBee being a different standard won't work with WiFi.
