Been a fan of Sonor since I was a kid in the 80's and heard Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden) playing them. Never saw another soul play them. Now I'm looking to get these to go with my Tama's. These sound even BETTER. Love the big OPEN sound. Reminds me of hearing Where Eagles Dare when I was like 7! Good playing.

aint it amazing how good a 18" bass drum can sound. added bonus is its so much lighter and allows for tighter kit set ups. thats something i appreciate!

you are n1 in mixing...wow never ear that crispess..and full range mixing...from the reso head of the bass drum..up the snare dettails...and deacay oif the bell of a splasch....oef..there is some art form in enginering involved respect..im inspired
@digitaldrumming10 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! There actually is not too much mixing involved, tuning mics & room play a huge role. Generally speaking, I’m just applying a little correctional eq to get rid of some „rumble“ and „honk“ frequencies + a little comp, just like if I’d hand out the recorded files for external mixing. Thanks for being around ! ✌️

I just bought this Sonor AQX JAZZ Kit. Does anyone have any suggestions for replacement heads. I'd be grateful for any recommendations you might have for me. Yes, I'd like to replace the top heads if both Tom's & both heads on the snare drum & bass drum . Thanks!

Question. Can you use the AQX Jazz with the 18" kick on a riser? It doesn't look like the extension of the bass drum spurs are really adjustable. Love the channel and the playing! Top Notch :-)
@digitaldrumming9 ай бұрын
Thank you very much! That’s actually something I thought about myself, while the smaller jungle kit with 16“bd comes with a riser by standard, the 18“ doesn’t 🤷🏻♂️ it would absolutely make sense to use one, and I really don’t understand why they didn’t add one. Kind regards!
@yessitsme68843 ай бұрын
I installed the Gibraltar riser on mine and I wasn't able to get enough reach with the spurs to keep the kick parallel to the floor, so I put little wood blocks under them (just cut up 2x4s). I may look into buying longer spurs at some point, but since it's a stay at home kit this works.
