이번 작업은 드러머 져니킴과 퍼커션센터와의 콜라보레이션으로 완성되었습니다!
소노 기획전 기간에 맞춰 현재 시판중인 소노 드럼 세트 전체 라인업의 사운드 샘플 영상을 메이킹 했었습니다.
오리지널 플랜이었던 사운드 비교영상을 소노기획전에 업로드 하였어야 했지만 부득이한 사정으로 이제서야 업로드 합니다.
쉽게 접할 수 없는 이런 귀한 자료를 만들 수 있도록 저의 아이디어를 믿고 함께 해주신 퍼커션센터와 조익환 대표님께 다시 한번 감사의 마음을 전하며, 소노 드럼 사운드를 궁금해 하시는 분들께 소노 아티스트의 한사람으로서 조금이나마 도움이 되셨으면 좋겠습니다!
이번 영상에서는 Kick, Snare, Tom, Over head(심벌 위쪽)까지의 풀마이킹을 하였으며, 조금 더 사실적인 사운드를 위해 Ambience(마이크와 카메라 혹은 아이폰 사운드 포함) 사운드를 많이 올려서 사운드를 디자인 한 것으로 생각됩니다.(사운드는 제가 디자인 하지 않았기에 모니터링 상황으로 생각해보았습니다.)
퍼커션 센터의 공간적인 사운드(공간의 엠비언스가 상당부분 존재하는)가 상당부분 반영 되어 있으니 참고 하시면 좋을것 같습니다.
다음번에는 엠비언스 마이킹이 빠진 Only Full Miking 사운드로 만들어 업로드 하겠습니다!

No doubt the SQ2 just sounds incredible, but the rest of the line up is really nice too! Considering an AQ1 or AQ2 for my next set.

사실상 같은 스펙이 라면 큰 차이가 없을 것으로 예상 됩니다. 같은 사양의 SQ2 와 프로라이트를 같은 환경에서 옆에 두고 연주해 본 적은 없습니다만, 같은 사양의 스네어를 다른 장소에서 연주해 본 경험으로 생각해 봤을 때, 큰 차이가 있다고 느껴지지는 않습니다. 그렇지만 국내 대부분의 SQ2는 미디엄이라는 쉘 스펙을 가지고 있으므로, 많은 사람들이 생각하는 SQ2 사운드는(미디엄쉘 사운드로 예상되고) 프로라이트 와 다르다고 생각 할 수 있을 것 같습니다. 다시 말씀드리면 SQ2 빈티지 쉘과 프로라이트는 큰 차이가 없다고 판단되며, SQ2 미디엄 쉘과 프로 라이트는 다르다고 판단되어집니다!

Depends on your definition of powerful. The AQ2 is going to give you more spread, the AQ1 is going to give you more punch.

I’ve just gone from a pearl birch kit to a aq1 birch stage and oh my it sounds so much better my toms actually sing now and my kick has a lot more attack insane kit for the money the aq1 is

I bought the AQ1 studio model as a cheap and more portable gigging kit. It has become my favourite kit and the toms sound much more musical than my more expensive Pearl kit.

I'd love to own a Vintage kit. While that's not anywhere in my near future I'm seriously considering trading my Tama Starclassic birch/walnuts for some Aq2's. Some might say I've lost my mind but I just can't seem to get into the Tama’s. They're definitely for harder music, which I don't play.

Tama Starclassic birch/walnuts is a really good drum. However, considering the cost-effectiveness, I think the AQ2 is a good choice. PROLITE is recommended. You can experience excellent sustain and high-quality sound. Have a nice day.

@@drummerjourneykim5801 thanks. Definitely keeping the Tamas for a while. Still some head combos I want to try (have Aqu. Texture coated) and playing around with different tunings they've definitely grown on me.

Thank you for posting this comment! I am torn between aq2, tama w/b , and the gretsch renown. But for the style of music I play (pop, rnb, and a bit of jazzy/Latin stuff) I think I'm better served by either sonor or gretsch.

@@MisterDelicious I put some Aquarian texture coated all around the Tama top and bottom. Sounds really good actually now. Wouldn't trade it for the AQ2 but I've wondered about the Renowns. They don't come in the 20, 14, 12 setup though. One of the biggest reasons I went with the SC B/W in the first place so... I have a video (my only video...lol) posted more as a cymbal demo but it's the Tama with the TC heads. Just recorded by hanging my phone from the ceiling of my garage so there's no editing at all. My playing isn't that great though just to warn you...lol

The idea that Tama is just for hard rock, metal and other "harder" music is just a stereotype. There are top drummers in different "non-hard" styles who play Tama. Check, for instance, Ramon Montagner, who plays Brazilian music, or Ulysses Owens playing jazz. It is the drummer who creates the sound. The drums are just the instrument.

The SQ2 uses wood of the highest quality. If you listen carefully, you can see that it gives you a better sound than the AQ2 maple!^^

AQ1 sounds better to my ears than the AQ2. Birch just has more bite than maple. It’s also 7.3mm thick.

I'll be honest. They are all very poor quality recordings. This video did no justice to those kits especially the sq2. Its an absolutely gorgeous sounding kit, just not here. what happened? I mean you got all the right mics from what I can see. What did y'all do?? Lol. The mix maybe? Lol. Oh ok went back. Get a shure 52 on that kick and some 98's on the toms. That 57 sounds nice on the snare though. thanks for putting it together though, takes time

The most regrettable part of this project is the recording source. There was a problem in the process. However, it was not easy to put all these sets in one place, so I uploaded it with a regret. Thanks for the good point. Please refer to other videos on my KZbin channel, I recorded it with a better sound.

Disagree. The toms were in a raw state (as you would hear them sitting in the driver's seat...almost) and were puny and full. Sonor are some of the finest drums on Earth.

This really should be taken down until it is remixed. It sounds like the only mics used in the SQ1 samples were room mics. All of the balances are wonky and there is really no way to compare the sounds of the drums. We're only comparing lousy drum mixes. It does *way* more harm than good to leave this up. And for full disclosure, I do not own a Sonor kit. I am considering one, but wanted to research them first. Please take this down.

I know. The recorded drum sound is very disappointing. But this sound is valuable. I respect your idea. But it's not easy to produce sound comparison videos like this. So it helps someone. I ask for your kind understand. I think I should try mixing it again. Thank you.
