I can't help but feel I've just witnessed two gods merely taking a stroll. These two groove so hard while making it look like play. The way Janek dancing through the entire performance, while still lining everything up flawlessly is astounding. Jojo doesn't even look like he's trying as he lays down a steady, intricate, and mind boggling groove. Amazing... simply amazing

Regardless of his incredible hand skills, I find him one of the least musical among the well-known drummers. He had a good groove in the first piece, but I agree with other commenters that most of the rest of it was crap and went nowhere, which is the real reason the onlookers were merely standing and watching. Amazing hand skills does not mean all of his work is good music.

James Crud ed is right you know. As a bassist you have to know when and where is the time to open up, I think he played it perfectly... also, the focus was on JoJo in the beginning, so he had to give the drummer space. It's all about understanding the importance of dynamics.

If he does stumble into a groove for a few seconds, he finds a way to flail himself out of it on the cymbals. This is the umpteenth video of him (and the last one) I've watched hoping that he'll stumble into a groove worthy of his skills.

@@billk9583 It's NAMM, the musicians are paid to flail their(companies) gear. It's not a show of music, it's a show of equipment. I know no one thinks that, but in this context, it's necessary to think that. Even with that aside, I didn't see him fall out of a groove because he's flailing at all.

but now having watched all the way through...boy, this is some hypnotic stuff. Those 2 merge together so well. Of course this is all about drum workshop so therefore bass is here to support the drummer. Auf jeden Fall funktioniert das richtig gut! Jojo ist wohl derzeit der innovativste Drummer, der mit brillianter Technik, Mut zu Experimenten und nimmer endenden Einfaellen wirklich fast 20min unterhalten kann ohne jemals wirklich langweilig zu werden!

leading up to 12:46 he starts to blend the rimshot snare with the 'twang' of the floortom hits close to the floortom's rim. I had to re-watch it a few times to get where the accent overtones from the snare were coming from - I really doubt I could've guessed what was going on without seeing it. fucking genius
