I use the era 300 as a single speaker in my bedroom and bought it as I plan to use them as a stereo pair or even rears in the future. Dolby Atmos tracks on Amazon Music sound great on it, just wish Spotify would move over as it's what I use the most. Also a point I've not seen mentioned anywhere - I've been able to use these as a speaker for my TV via Bluetooth. When connecting straight to my LG it wouldn't let me adjust audio sync and sound was out of time but I connected to my Fire Stick instead and there's no latency issues so I'd recommend that.

@@ShashankBhardwaj when I'm listening to music I stream over WiFi but when using it for my TV I use Bluetooth so that I can connect to my fire stick (can't over WiFi) as the sound is still far better than the internal TV speakers. Once I have a proper tv setup I'll probably get a soundbar that can connect via hdmi but is pointless as the moment as just use it in my bedroom.

Thanks for this. I've been pondering to get this or the era 100 but I'm leaning towards this. I'm like you, I just want to use it in my bedroom to listen to music via Spotify. I'm due an upgrade from my google nest mini which I got for free from Spotify. Since you purchased, any issues you've had to deal with and generally would you encourage me to get it?

@@Sador_1 I've not had any issues at all with the speaker, the sonos app can be a bit buggy/annoying to use sometimes but if using Spotify I just play music directly from the spotify app over WiFi and works perfectly. I was debating between 2 era 100s for a stereo setup but went with the 300 and glad I did. It's more than good enough for a bedroom on its own and gives you the option of buying another one in the future if you want

I’ve had the ERA 300 for 6 months and I use them as a stereo pair. I initially purchased them to connect a turntable without having to go through the trouble of connecting an amp because we were in a temporary rental waiting for our home to be built. I was so impressed I’ve decided to keep them setup in my office. My previous speakers were B&Ws so I was expecting a huge downgrade but I was pleasantly surprised. I am considering getting another pair to use as rears in my TV room/man cave.

Like many have said, I have these partnered with the arc as surround rears, love them, the best track I’ve found so far to play from Apple Music in spatial has to be Blackstreet, No Diggity, turn up that volume and enjoy, then compare it to the normal non spatial version, one hell of a difference 👍

We have 2 set up in a rear surround set up. We love them but wondered if anyone had a quick fix to be able to switch them into a stereo pair for music too? Can I make a separate “room” setting on Sonos to switch?

That’s not possible.the sonos era 300 are made for rear surround speakers in combination with a beam or arc and subwoofer.The front speakers of the era are disabled in surround set up because that’s the best choice otherwise you get overkill. I have 2x era 300 / beam gen2/ minisub 👌👌👌

I believe you can create a new room that only includes the era 300s. Yeah no. You can't do it unless you remove them from the theater sound system altogether. But, it would be nice if you could shift them back and forth with ease. I'd like to just be able to listen to one subwoofer and the 300s in a stereo setup. Like you should just be able to create a group with whatever speakers you want in that group!

Great long term review. As a massive Sonos fan, I have to agree the new Era of Sonos speakers is a Great Leap Forward, and I love Spatial Audio. I used to live in the Google Eco system, and was disappointed when the little love tiff started betrween Sonos and Google, meaning a lack of google assistance on the Sonos hardware. I switched to Alexa, and although not as good, is just as useable, and allows me to turn 'Smart' voice functions on, with my Sonos hardware. As Google have announced they are pulling away from the smart eco system, which include their own set of speakers, I am glad I made the Jump backwards to Amazons Alexa. So these speakers missing the Google feature will very soon be irrelevant as Google will no longer provide that Home service in the future.

I believe the future of smart home is as uncertain with amazon alexa is it is with google home. Both have had downsizing. If anything, I think Apple Home may be the king soon, maybe sonos can get Siri integrated.

I have a stereo pair of ERA 300s and a Gen3 Sub. I love the set up. I bought this strictly for music and the Dolby Atmos capabilities. The line in audio is lacking. I love my old album collection. The line in and needs a power boost from Sonos. Other than that, I am very pleased with my kit.

I have 2x 300 eras, sub gen 3 and an arc, all combined with a 65” oled tv. The set up is great and will be amazing for years to come. One thing I find odd and wonder if anyone knows the reason. When playing Apple Music via the tv compared to playing Apple Music though all the speakers with the tv off, it sounds different. It’s much better with the tv off, as the eras shine way more.

All may be well, but be ready to hardware and software trouble shoot....whenever Sonos app update occurs, there’s chance random issues. So have backup audio system.

Can I ask if it’s possible to use wall mounts for Era 300’s? I mean, I know they sell them but are there cons to mounting them as rears high in corners? (out of reach to be pushing any buttons on the speakers?) Looking to purchase Arc & use set of 300’s as rears. Thanks in advance.

Good question. Sonos actually recommend turning the speaker upside down if mounting as you mention.

I have 2 Sonos Era 300, Arc, and subwoofer. I initially had some connection issues; but it was just user error. I like the sound and wireless connectivity. However, I don’t think they are audiophile grade; but audiophile grade would cost significantly more and have cords. 6:05

In a surround set up i think it over powers the Arc. Hopelfully Sonos will release a new soundbar this year that matches the Era 300's

@@heibaimao mine don’t appear to be firing the front driver in theater mode. Obviously atmos doesn’t really work like that but I stood there for 10 minutes while I had a hacksaw ridge on didn’t hear much out of front driver

I have a first-generation beam and the Sub (Gen3 I think). I had two Sonos one 2 Gen as surround sounds until one "died". Should I replace the faulty One with another ONE or upgrade to two ERA 100s OR a single ERA 300 for my surround sound. It is a small TV room. Many thanks.

The Beam Gen 1 isn't rated for Atmos and you will only get Dolby 5.1 to rear surrounds. You might better off with the One SLs or upgrading with Era 100 instead. You would need to upgraded to the Beam Gen 2 or Arc to get Atmos with the soundbar and Era 300 in a theater group.

I have sonos era 300 (2x) with beam gen2 and a minisub woofer.The sound is incredible with movies and tv shows in dolby atmos. I don’t like to listen music in Dolby Atmos…i disabled it in the sonos app

Sonos can support up to 32 speakers playing at the same time playing as a whole house audio. Just depends on how many other types of Sonos/Symfonisk speakers systems you have and locations for how it will sound. You can't iPhone TruePlay them together.

@@jimr1923 Yes, but nothing fancy. I got there Pro-Ject turntable model Phono SB. It has embedded preamp from Pro-ject (S2 version), I wanted to have all in one. However I got option to disable it, so whenever I will decide to improve the quality by changing preamp for something better - there is an option as well :)

@@jimr1923 You're welcome. I mean, I am not an audiophile, I just want to have a decent sound quality and from my perspective, the ERA300 and Pro-Ject are completely sufficient for me. One remark - Pro-ject comes with calibrated arm and because of that, it was too heavy for era300, so I needed to change the pressure to reduce the friction effect. Of course turntable is also white, so for me it fits with my house design, I love it :)

The Sonos Move or Roam is more durable and better for outdoors. You could place the Era 300 outdoors; but, the side/upward firing speakers uses the wall and celling for Atmos.

It is an impressive speaker in some ways, but I just couldn't get on with it so ended up swapping it for a Sonos Five. The Era 300's sound is too broken up and scattered to my ears and made me feel like the vocals were always buried at the back and cut off from the rest of the music.

Love my 300s as a pair, but the streaming services are a step behind at the moment. Dolby atmos tracks are something else, but they are noticeably lossy when compared to non atmos, lossless tracks. This is where atmos tracks need to be to fully appreciate it in my opinion. But it doesn't sound like this will happen any time soon....

Bought a used but mint Dynaudio Music 7 at 700 USD. Plugged the baseport with acoustic foam, use the intelligent room adapt and Airplay2 and it sounds like Dynaudio Emit and close to Evoke as well at best. The clarity and bass control is just top notch and can't buy these small plastic boxes, they just don't have enough drivers and tweeters, physically it's impossible to have a good sound out of them. Tried them all and Dynaudio Music 7 was the only one that really can replace a pair of speakers in a large room and fill it fully.

This is part of their business model. A far cry from a friend’s Sansui/McIntosh tube setup from years ago that still sounds fantastic

I have just added two era 300 to my sonos arc. first had problems to connect them. they acted as three speakers playing the same sound. super weird, echos etc. then I tried again since they did not show up in the surround settings. now they are all connected. watching star wars with dolby atmos and it sounds freaking awesome!! sounds from everyehere. can tell already! 100% I bought a first gen Move and that ended my Sonos experience. I paid $400 for the stupid thing, set up was tedious, it RARELY plays KZbin videos smoothly (constant skipping), battery drain when completely OFF, Bluetooth has a noticeable drop in quality (understandable vs WiFi) and imagine my fury when I discovered it was a mono speaker. MONO, for $400?!?! Also you can’t just play it out of the box, have to register it first, it’s mandatory, I can’t just LISTEN TO MY $400 speaker without jumping through hoops! I’m done, I refuse to pay $800 to get stereo and with all the other hoops and issues, not worth it.
