I've listened to several Sonos reviews and enjoyed this format. Your feedback on the quality and balance of the sound is encouraging. Learning about decoupling the subwoofer in separate rooms was a plus. I am currently running two Sonance speakers in my office and four outdoor Klipsch off a basic 4-channel receiver, so I have to switch the cables on a wall plate to go from office to outdoor. No biggie, but I may opt for a Sonos amp to replace it. These are all non-Sonos 8-ohm speakers of two different brands, so it may be questionable, but conveniently, all speaker wires terminate at the same wall plate. However, after listening to all the reviews, I'm finally buying the amp to add four new Sonance speakers to the kitchen, along with the mini-sub that is on sale. This is a bonus for our kitchen remodel; we have the luxury of full ceiling and wall access for a short time. The small profile of the amp will work well in the kitchen. I'll test the Sonos amp on my other configuration and based on that experience, opt for a second Sonos amp. Do you have any strong preference for hard-wiring Internet connectivity vs. Wi-Fi? What about the speaker wire gauge? Thank you for the video.

Thanks for checking out the video and letting us know your plans, sounds pretty epic and you might as well make the most of having access to the cavities. I haven't had any problems with WiFi, but I do have a mesh router setup, so all corners of the house are covered. That said, you can convert ethernet cables to HDMI, so might not be a bad idea to run it behind the wall just in case WiFi is spotty, or if you want to run lossless of a server somewhere. Sorry, can't recall speaker gauge - sparky put it in for me.

Do les a setup like this sound better than an expensive Bluetooth speaker eg Marshall woburn

Hard to say without directly comparing, but you'd go with Sonos if you're already in the Sonos ecosystem I would say.

Yeah Sonos stuff is a premium. The last set up I had was Krix (also really good), but they too were expensive.
