like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, kzbin.infoUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

How reliable is the connectivity? I don't want to have to keep always toggling connection all the time. My wireless headphones are great, but sometimes I have to hard reset them to force them to connect to my Bluetooth.
@MarkKwak3 жыл бұрын
I'd say I haven't had any significant issues with any of my Sonos devices, they've been solid wireless-wise. However just one thing to note is that these are wifi based, not bluetooth based (though some of their newer stuff is now Bluetooth based).

No Homekit support is a bummer with Sonos, but I am glade to see Airplay 2 . The original big Homepod is the best sounding Assistant speaker out there so what is Apple's thinking? I believe we are going to see a less expensive version of the big Homepod very soon. As for Seri she does what I ask her all the time, just don't ask her something difficult like who Steve Jobs is !!!!!!!!

Love this just found your channel. So you can get a Sonos sound bar and use this to improve movies/tv sounds? I’m in a small flat so I don’t want a big base heavy surround sound
@acslater0173 жыл бұрын
Too much bass was one of the reasons I switched away from HomePod and to Sonos, and I’m still happy 1.5 years later. When using a sound bar, TV and movies can utilize the night mode the host mentioned, and it greatly reduces loud noises & bass. There’s an optional dialogue boost too. When using a soundbar + satellites, music can play in “Ambient” mode, which does something similar. When using a One speaker by itself, there aren’t as many options, but on the app you can tweak the bass and treble anywhere from -10 to +10. I’m really into the ecosystem now, with 4 Ones, a Beam soundbar, and a Roam portable speaker. The Roam is neat, as it has a wireless charging pad where I leave it playing synced up w the home system, but can quickly move it anywhere I like. Very satisfied.

@@acslater017 thanks for the reply. The thing is tho where my flat is and the position of the couch against the wall, I have the sound bar but I can only place one speaking on the left side of me nest the couch , the couch is against a wall so I can’t fit it in and the couch can’t be moved up to put a speaker on each side either as the door opens just past where the couch ends

Similarly Sonos is one of my favourite if not favourite as a whole technology product for the 9 years I have been using them. No other brand/product has maintained my interest this long.

Hello! Can you reccomend either the sonos 1 or the Harmon kardon citation? I use spotify, would connect over bluetooth and use it plugged in. Though wireless would work as well. Can you make recommendation please ?
@MarkKwak4 жыл бұрын
I've never used the Harmon kardon citation, but what I can say is that the Sonos One doesn't have BT so that may be a deal killer. Though Sonos Move should have it but it will be more expensive.

I have one of these!😃 I hate it 😞 C O N S T A N T connection issues. Also, the mic sucks. You have to be I'm very close to it, or screaming from across the room. It's nice looking, expensive garbage.

An old Sonos will keep working and will then be frozen in time, just like an old Advent or Klipsch. I don’t understand this point.
@MarkKwak4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, for that reason it's a bit overblown - but the issue I see is that since so much of the value is multi-speaker / multi-room usage, it would be odd to one day have 8 features on one sonos, 5 features on another, 2 features on another, and only be able to utilize the technology in parts when buying to integrate with one another

@@MarkKwak Today I have a 7 year-old Pioneer AV receiver that can’t handle Dolby Atmos but I have a new Samsung QLED TV and Apple TV 4K that can handle the audio and video. So now I’m in the position of either upgrading the AV receiver or not enjoying the latest technology. I have a 7.1 speaker system but to get full value out of Atmos and other audio CODECs, I now need to buy “height speakers”. Or I could still be using my old TEAC receiver with two Advents and call it a day. Yes, technology keeps moving on. “Vintage” speakers can sound really good but you can’t criticize modern technology and the requirements to keep up with it by looking back at “the good old days”. You either have to commit to move forward or you have to be happy with a certain baseline that sounds good. Neither one is better in some absolute sense. I’m just saying its “apples and oranages”. An old touchtone phone can still make phone calls but I think the iPhone is better.

I understand your point of view, its valid. But I am still frustrated that my 2 Connects, 1 Connect Amp and 1 Play5 are S1 only now. I am afraid that even basic music streaming and multiroom functionality could stop working, after 2-3 more iOS / Android annual updates, the old S1 app might become incompatible, so I would have to keep 2 or 3 old smartphones to still run the S1 app at home....which I won‘t. ...when I bought in into Sonos, around 7-8y. ago, I wasn‘t really aware of, that these are not only eternity-lasting hifi products, but also IT products, with a typically much shorter life span. Now, where I finally understand this, I am also more cost conscious. And, e.g. the Amazon Echo Link (with analog out and optical out) is less than half the price of a new Sonos Port (which replaces the Connect). And actually the Echo Studio or smaller Echo 4 speakers (not the Echo Dot of course) might sound just good enough for my small rooms. Furthermore the Echos offer Bluetooth, and the whole Smart Home stuff ....I still love my good ol‘ Sonos, but they face some tough competition from the big dogs. ...given the limited life span of these products, I am not sure, whether I will upgrade to new, comparatively expensive Sonos devices (within next few years) or whether I might switch to another multiroom audio platform. ...I am pretty sure though, by gutfeeling😁, that the supported life span of Sonos products will be longer than of Echos or others. ...btw. good video, interesting points👍

my sonos system used to connect flawlessly to my NAS. I have a ton of converted CDs on there. After a house move last year, for some reasons, i can't connect the way I used to... These software road blocks on speakers are very annoying. I will be keeping my 5.1 TV setup for now, but my other stereo play-ones in other rooms will go because of this.
