GeeZus I lived with my grandma until the day I came home and she was having a stroke. She was paralyzed for the rest of her life and I had to move in with other family. She'd call me everyday to make sure I was okay and I went to visit her a day before she passed away. The last verse of this song really hits home.

Thirty spokes share the hub of a wheel; yet it is its center that makes it useful. You can mould clay into a vessel; yet, it is its emptiness that makes it useful. Cut doors and windows from the walls of a house; but the ultimate use of the house will depend on that part where nothing exists. Therefore, something is shaped into what is; but its usefulness comes from what is not.” - Tao Te Ching

Funny, just recently I randomly stumbled upon Kayne Wests "Everything I Am", and seriously fell in love with the song and instrumental. I just felt so damn inspired to write something. And now I find SonReal, like 6 years to late, just to see that he apparently felt the same back then. Great new interpretation of the song and nice music video. Keep on doing your thing Son!

SonReal Mainstream is when someone makes it big and everyone listens to them. Typically mainstream artists sell out and make low quality music but they make multiple albums. Kayne is a great example. Once he released 808s and heartbeats his music was low quality and made to quickly. He sold out.

Can't even begin to describe the roller coaster of emotions your songs bring. This one has especially got me in my feels, my Grandma was the one figure in my childhood that taught me love and compassion and when she passed it rocked my world. I was adjudicated and incarcerated as a kid, so I found myself at 16 feeling like my world was falling to pieces, it was then I decided to be the person my grandma saw me as and not the person I was becoming. I didn't want her looking down on me from wherever she is and not feeling proud of me. I just want to do right by her, and just be a better me.

I've been searching for this song for years! It's been stuck in the back if my head but never knew the artist or name of the song. I only remeber him sitting in the chair rapping it was so hard to find but so glad I did!

My 11 year old daughter showed me this song....I was pleasantly surprised with the message, and the rest of the song. I will buy her all your albums she wants and never tell her I'm listening to them too 😘
