I feel really weirded out, but in a good way. It's gonna be a longer one, but hear me out... My grandma's birthday is 02-05. She passed away few years ago, my depression followed soon after. It's a lot better now, I started to somehow function again, but I still hurt a lot - she was a mother figure to me, it was her that raised me, we used to live together, even shared a room since our apartment was so tiny. Our bond was special, I'd like to think. She was a light of my life, she guided me through the worst of days. I just realized that this song was posted today, and I should probably be doing my homework, but here I am, listening to this song over and over again on the verge of tears, wondering how my life would be different if my grandmama was still alive. Thank you, SonReal. You deserve to be heard. Your music has what most of today's popular music lacks - heart and soul

Haha dude(tte?), your comment vibes with me ☺ Just wrote something similar tho different above, and then went to the comments and found this - and you're totally right with everything you said - thanks for sharing, and as the other brother said before, from rock bottom there's only one way, and that's up. Been there too, we all have, and I can only say in hindsight even that stuff was 'positive' to my growth as human being. Too many people nowadays hide all that stuff under a hard cover of mainstream bangers, superficial relationships and whatnot, in order to *never* have to feel human and never experience what it's like to be *hurt* - but these people will also learn it, one day - but maybe too late, that's the sad thing. Cuz then they know ehat they've let themselves miss out on, and that hurts even more. So yeah, we totally should have more realness/sincerity/heart/soul in music all around the world, will also affect where we as a people will evolve towards, affect our kids in a positive way growing up & so much more. We just need to *dare* to make that change. Even the Grinch needs love, haha ☺✌

“Old” people grew up in a different generation that didn’t have technology and open gender fluidity, saggy pants. People opened doors for each-other and gas was less than a dollar. So they see how rude and disrespectful some kids are these days and make assumptions

Agreed Loren Mae. Take it with a grain of salt. I figure "old people" have lived long enough and endured enough bullshit to have earned the right to have whatever attitude they want. On a side note, the little excerpt with the landowner just goes to show how far a little bit of civil, respectful communication can go.

Might actually be a Grammy Award Song (although 'for Grandma' is very moving), that was FANTASTIC!

"Now I seen that its just too late and I was just too busy to say hey how its going, know I love ya and I miss ya." Exactly how I felt when my gma passed. Saw her once in her last two years, a week before she left. Make time for your loved ones cause you never know how long you have. I feel you SonReal, thanks for the heartfelt music.
