This is actually a pretty interesting episode with information about Danys brother Rhaegar. Little finger tells the story of him giving roses to Lyanna during a joust. And sir barristan tells a story of him singing among the common folk and giving away the money. It's good for Dany to hear her family isn't all like Viserys, even though that's all we hear in Westeros.

It's so hard to understand Theon's True Journey in Winterfell, Ramsey's Winterfell, without reading the books. He was torn down. Stripped of his identity. He was too in the thick of Torture when Yara came for him. But Sansa is a walking, talking reminder of who he was, what he did, what he could've been. In some ways, that's worse. She's basically his sister. It does let you know that maybe Theon Greyjoy is still in there. But all of that AND he knows exactly who Ramsey is, and what's really in store for Sansa. So it isn't just shame, it's also fear. For her.

Yep. They did him SO dirty. And what D&D did to the actor as well… just so awful. He knew the source material/his character very well and they shafted him even worse when Ian McElhinney (Ser Barristan) wrote them a long letter on how much the role/show meant to him. And they axed him worse for it. Probably one of the most infuriating things they did. Unfortunately this season is where they start to stray off course 😞

Sansa is the first Stark Theon has seen since he betrayed them. Part of the reason he's being that way is he doesn't want to be seen. Another is Ramsey hasn't allowed him to be seen by her. A lot of people act like it's weird that Jamie is upset with Tyrion for killing their father, because we think Tywin deserved it. But it makes sense that Jamie would be very obviously upset that anyone murdered his father, Tyrion or whoever. It's his father.

Jaime is the one who has steadfastly loved all of his family, no matter how terrible they are. It does make sense that murdering his father is a step too far. He also feels some guilt as Tyrion would not be able to do that had Jaime not freed him. Of course, there is more than that to the brothers' falling out in the books.

The dornish plot in show is a bit lacluster without giving any spoilers. In the book Dornish royal family was secretly banking Viserys and Dany in hopes that they would kick the Lannisters as an act of revenge for killing Oberyn's sister and the kids. It was all domino placing to satisfaction. They are big time schemers who want to keep their squeecky clean image. They are mayor faction that was unharmed by the the war of 5 kings and I'm eager to see how they would increase the influence in the future books.

Yeah all the Dornish plots going on in the books are very complicated (Prince Martel has schemes on top of schemes). I understand why the show couldn’t do all the Dornish book plot lines but they really dumbed down the Dorn storyline.

It was a great episode & even better reaction. However, there was an issue with the writing. We learn previously, The Unsullied, masters of the Short Sword, The Shield & The Spear, 1 in 4 survive their rigorous training. So they are technically like special forces, at minimum between a Marine & Navy Seal in modern warfare. They are patrolling a city that has alleys, tight quarters. They are equipped with the wrong weaponry for such quarters, the spear. Spears should be mostly used in open field warfare, defensive postures in uniform as a squad. They should of been patrolling with short swords with shields in tight quarters as a spear would likely hit an obstacle when swung in tight quarters. They were overcome by a bunch of ordinary men with swords & daggers. The writing is either suggesting that the Unsullied is supervised by a poor commander(Grey Worm) or the writing didn't do its proper research on battle tactics & also reduced the level of expertise the Unsullied were at. Either way, the writing goofed.

barristan is one of the best swordsman in the world, only second to arthur dayne because of his sword. he slew maelys the monstrous ending the last blackfyre rebellion, he was kingsguard to aerys targaryen and after being wounded on the battle of the trident robert gave him his personal maester even tho he was wounded as well, to later name him lord commander of his own kingsguard. when he was dismissed he drew his sword and literally all 5 other kingsguard + the hound drew their own swords in fear that he would attack them. in the books he even kills some men that were sent after him when he leaves kings landing. he said he was going to fight for the true king and renly asked both robb and stannis if he was in their camps and he orders his man to not kill barristan if they met him on the battlefield fighting for stannis. and yet here he couldnt even defeat some guys with knives... barristan is probably the first character that was done dirty by d&d

This will be my last book comment for at least the remainder of the season (i know it can annoy people) But one of the good things i have realized watching reactions is some things make so much more sense in the show after you have read/listened to the books. Since each chapter is a character POV, the motives, reasoning and actions are more clear. For example, we get to know what's going on in Cersi's head and know what her thoughts are. And most important, I think, is her level of fear and paranoia. She's still the same Cersi but amplified.

The Boltons are who showed up at Winterfell in season 2 and chased away the Ironborn and burned Winterfell, when Theon was left behind to be captured. That might have been part of a deal to let them leave. So the Boltons have been holding Winterfell since then. I think you're officially becoming the angriest reactors to this show I've seen.
