If you want vocal flexibility, India is the go-to place for it. This is a fusion piece, Caleb. It has strong Western influences in addition to the core Indian perspective on music. They're constraining themselves - mostly - by adding a piano (superbly played) with its traditional Western scale and more or less sticking to that scale. But the added musical colors weren't Western at all, and the singer definitely isn't Western in his approach to music. I didn't sense that the song, thematically, was going anywhere in particular; it was more a soundscape than anything else. Quite pleasant. It checks my boxes. I like virtuosity in music, and it's here. I like innovation; a fusion of Western and Indian motifs is going to produce innovation. Cultural fusion isn't the first thing that pops into my head when I think of MTV. It seems they've discovered that there are terrific artists not residing in Hollywood or London. How about that.

Song is really sweet but happiness mixed with sadness. Lyrics describe feelings of a person who has surrendered himself to a fate, is rewarded with a fleeting moment of happiness and relief, that presents itself, unexpectedly. Overwhelmed and not sure how to react. Lyrical version sung by the same singer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaWslaqsrtyjnZI

I am not an expert on music but trained Indian classical singers like Sonu start practicing from the age of 4-5 years clocking an average of 8-10 hours of practice daily. They say if u can become proficient in any of the Indian classical music genres then singing any kind of song becomes easier.
@CalebColesMusic4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it is really an interesting sound. When I was over there, what I witnessed was a lot of fusion stuff. As in electric guitars, pianos etc. Western inspired mixed with traditional Indian songs, sounds and vocals. I'm sure depending on where you are that would change (such a diverse place) but that is what I saw. Really cool sounds 😊

The main difference between Indian classical and Western classical music is the idea of "notes". Indian classical music is based on the relationships BETWEEN notes rather than the actual notes themselves, whereas Western music tries to force certain frequencies as the "standard" and flattens out the idea of microtonal music before it can even be incorporated into a piece. That's why pop music sounds so overly bright and rigid, and why songs have been progressively getting shorter and shorter over time - you can only do so much within the conceptual framework used by Western music. But Indian classical music has been changing, adapting, and creating new works for hundreds, if not thousands, of years - and continues to do so in ways that surprise even today's maestros.

Lyrics: Still, somewhere inside me, Still, somewhere inside me, there is a little life remaining.. A new heartbeat came up, I got to know that I am still alive.. Some such tenacity is there in this moment, where was this moment of mine.. now it's in front of me, should I die or should I live a little.. should I kiss joys, or should I cry a little, should I die or live for a while.. Still somewhere inside me, there is a little life remaining.. (as if) the body burning down in the sun got the shade of a tree, like the smile of an angry kid came back on a little cajoling.. something like that is what my heart is feeling now, on the years old wounds, there is some balm applied some such mercy is there in this moment, where was this moment of mine.. now it's in front of me, should I die or should I live a little.. should I kiss joys, or should I cry a little, should I die or live for a while.. like a kite with broken string was this life of mine, today I'm there, whether tomorrow takes place (for me) or not (is not known), was my story everyday.. (he was unsure of how long he'd live) now a new bond calls me from behind, why does a worry for tomorrow trouble me, such a prickle is there in this moment, where was this moment of mine.. now it's in front of me, should I die or should I live a little.. should I kiss joys, or should I cry a little, should I die or live for a while..

You should go through more indian classical music stuff and the way they sing and also observe how the Indian classical music teaches the singer to play with different notes n overtones. A trained Indian singer can sync his voice with any musical instruments in terms of notes with that same tempo or speed n can changes notes as well that's why some western musical experts called Indian singers a Vocal Gymnastics..
