Great vid, glad this came up in my search. Gonna place my order for the 14mm gm. Love the lightweight and especially that it's almost the same size as my 24mm gm. My real estates shoots are part talking headshots from the realtor with my 24gm so swapping to the 14gm on my gimbal for the property shoots will be much easier cuz i wont have to recallibrate like I have to do now when I use my 14-24 sigma 2.8. That lens is huge and hefty and because I got lazy I hardly ever use that lense and throw my tamron 17-28 on my cam which isn't wide enough most of the time. Can't wait to get my 14mm! Impressive video, mate. I find that you went with PP6 for night for better low light performance. I would suggest you go with PP8 and HLG3 and set it at ISO 2,000 on a7SIII that looks crispy clean with better dynamic range that is comparable to SLog2 with better shadow recoverability vs SLog3 (so you expose for the highlights more). I think I might go with Sony 14mm f1.8 first then go for Laowa 9mm f/5.6 FF RL instead of this one as it's creeping closer to the GM price with no AF and much lower f stop.

Interesting, I'll experiment with this!
@Bo_Hazem Жыл бұрын
@@CreativePhilosophy_ Check out Gerald Undone's review of the picture profiles on a7SIII despite him not being a fan of HLG overall. Sadly, HLG3 doesn't get as much love but it saved critical underexposed footage of a tiny insect (2-3mm) due to extreme macro (~7x) with the image looking 100% intact unlike other PP. SLog3 has its place, but HLG3 is just to easy to correct without noise in most cases, especially at base ISO 100 and 2,000.

An interesting take. For me not so hard a choice. I love ultra wide but sold my Laowa 12mm f2.8. I was quite honestly underwhelmed when looking at the resolution into the edges, let alone the corners at f2.8 shot on my Sony a7Riv. It just didn't cut it. Also quite big, heavy and slow to use in MF vs tap to focus or eye AF. Yes I like ultra wide for creative portraits too (not flattering , but dramatic). So I bought a 16-35GM f2.8, but I love primes, so later also bought a 20mm f1.8 G to complement my original 24mm GM f1.4. Seen many reviews about the 14mm GM and yesterday ordered one. @@hamroz1 Hi yes, overall a keeper, as expected. Plan to use for astro landscape as well as architecture, interiors etc. IMO an overall much better and easier to use lens than my old (sold) Laowa 12mm. Only 2-3 downsides IMO: 1. Won't easily take filters (ND etc without box system - big, clunky, expensive). 2. It's very specific, impossible to use as an only lens, necessitating it comes along in your bag as an 'extra' lens - so travel light isn't an option (but lighter than Laowa) so still better (faster too). 3. Not cheap - but quality persists long after the heavy cost to buy is forgotten. So mine will be a long-term keeper.

Absolutely, it's a full frame E lens, should be fine on the Crane :)
