I'm sold on the Bravia 9. Everything I could possibly want. Cant wait to upgrade from the a90j!
@Cblan1224
@Cblan1224 19 күн бұрын
Not sure how much of an upgrade that is..I would wait until later in the year, or next year when they release an a95l replacement. That will be the true flagship. Oleds are far superior, and get plenty bright these days. The bravia 9 won't come close to the a95l. I'm sure the rtings review will show that. Definitely too expensive. Even with a significant improvement, they will not come close to oled.

The OLED matrix is weak. Still, the image is not illuminated in dark scenes and the colors are not naturally oversaturated, especially black. It does not look like in reality. Mini Led and Full Aray Led matrix are better. This is confirmed by Sony in TV Bravia 9.
@yannbard4536
@yannbard4536 18 күн бұрын
I agree that it is an upgrade, they demonstrated the back light superiority of the 9 against the X95L which is widely considered the best LCD of 2023.. I'm sure in real world testing this will be confirmed. Will it beat there own a95l? Not in pure contrast/dimming control obviously but it will narrow the gap but have the brightness benefits and 0 fear of burn in.. I'm delighted they are pushing more than 1 technology, keeps other manufacturers on their toes just how LG suddenly improved their OLED with the arrival of qdoleds.

Ok guys. Just wait for the rtings review. Bravia 10 will be oled. Mini led can not compete. It's not subjective
@michigan1777
@michigan1777 18 күн бұрын
@@Cblan1224 it's all subjective. What looks better to one person's eye vs another is entirely up to them. It's the same reason we look at different brands, technologies, etc. to my eye, it likes mini led more. The brighter picture looks more real to me. We perceive reality by how much a light source gives off. Unfortunately oleds suffer massively in a bigger window and a lot of times, can't achieve the 50% to fill field brightness a mini led tv can. Plus the white is still not the same, although it's better than woled. For sdr content, I feel more of a sense of reality when looking at a mini led. Motion looks more natural due to the inherent delay on the mini led pixel as well. I get how awesome the instant pixel response is for gaming, but I'm not a PC gamer. I play to get immersed in the game. I get that more on a mini led because of the HDR performance. As an OLED user myself, I do like the tech, but I don't see it as the only technology. It has different strengths and weaknesses compared to mini led. Nothing wrong with that

Makes me happy that I went with the A95L and that its carrying over. I just hope Sony considers making another QD or flagship OLED in the years to come to compete against the G4 and S95. I assume the Bravia 8 is a C series competitor.

I like that the off angle is really good for an LED. One reason I bought a Sony OLED besides the awesome picture and color etc., was because I need a little more angle than straight on. Now, for the Sony Fan boy comment. This to me is the perfect brightness. The detail is not lost unlike sometimes with the over saturation of a Samsung. For me, the upscaling, processing and detail are more important than super brightness. Thanks for bringing us a sample. Look forward to the complete review when more good stuff comes out. Cheers !!!!

The question for me is if I should go series 9 85” or A95L 77”. I’ve never owned an OLED TV but think they look great. Burn-in, image retention, and degradation is something that worries me about them. Can’t someone with experience lmk if I should be concerned about the OLED and those factors? The tv would be in a dark room, I game but every other day or so. What I typically watch is movies or shows.
@thatsamazin-
@thatsamazin- 4 күн бұрын
I have a c2 and have had no issues. Burn in really isn’t a huge risk anymore. The tv will periodically run a pixel refresh and you will be all good. If you have b9 and a95l money, just get a 83 inch G4. It’s arguably the best looking tv right now and has 4 hdmi 2.1 inputs instead of just 2. Definitely go oled if you’re going to be in a dark room. If it was going to be a brighter room, I might lean more towards b9. With 83 inch G4, it’s a win all the way around. Most accurate natural picture I’ve ever seen. Perfect looking white color. The colors have a bright pop without being overly saturated. It even has more detail in picture compared to A95L in comparisons I’ve seen. The G4 is King!

Brian, Here’s some questions I have for Rob Brennan & Neal Manowitz, Sony’s R&D, engineers & marketing department that need answers from an admitted Sony lover as I already have both Z9G & Z9D as well as sound bars and other home theatre equipment. 1) why do none of Sony’s even master series TV’s support DTS:X & yet many of their sound bars do ? 2)why would Sony let LG beat them in seein 8K resolution in their 8k TV’s ? Admittedly they used a video 0:40 0:40 decoder box which they gave to customers who bought their ZX models in 2019 and then built the hardware into those same sets in 2020 ! Plus they are eternally upgradable through software updates for HEVC, AV1 & VP9 codecs! As of last year you could still buy these boxes for $115 but they would only work with LG. Its

From what you’ve experienced so far, how does the Bravia 9 compare to the A95L? Is the new master drive good enough of a feature when compared with oled? Is the 4000 nit brightness a good enough counter measure against oled contrast to warrant consideration? Do the features persuade you away from oled? I just bought an A95L and I’m not sure what to think of the Bravia 9, in general. I know they are completely different technologies, but I care about picture quality and visual experience first and foremost. If we ignore other factors such as size and price, which tv draws your attention the most from a picture quality experience?

Even at 12000 hours now after 4 1/2 years, I am going to pass it on to my daughter’s family in a couple of months. Truly - the LG CX was an awesome product.) But quite like Sony too . . .? I have the 85 x90l and its not perfect but holds up with a lot of streaming content with the best tvs out there. If only they'd drop thw prices out the gate just a little bit. I know they could shave 500-800 off these tvs and still make tons of profit. In fact if they did theyd sell more of them thus not losing money. Great stuff Brian, thank you. I have a 2017 Sony X90E, 55 inch, which is still performing as well as the day I purchased it. I was looking at upgrading to the X90L, 75 inch, but after seeing your video, I may hold off for the Bravia 7, if the price is reasonable. The Bravia 7 has a narrow stand position which suits my TV table and audio setup. I watch mainly satellite TV in New Zealand (1080i) and KZbin, so not sure I would gain a lot in picture quality from a more expensive TV, i.e. the Bravia 9, 8, A80L etc. I am hoping though, the sound direct from the Bravia 7 is superior to the X90E as I don’t always play the TV sound through my audio system.

Happy to see some simplistic names. The TV models names have been getting outta control in recent years and not very consumer friendly.

I hope and I really pray for the prices of the a95l not skyrocketing after this.. for instance yesterday I saw an a95l for 2.9k and all of a sudden today after the reveal literally the same online store had it at 3.3k and it said „exhibition model“ I couldn’t believe it.. can you maybe tell us anything about if that is just a coincidence or is the the a95l (wich I think is still one of the best allrounders out there despite no 4000nits) are these prices going to skyrocket or are they going to continue the model with an update but is the price going to change then as well? You don’t have to specifically answer on this comment but I would love to have you discuss it at your next podcast episode.. ♥️

I'm confused. So the Bravia 9 (Mini-LED) is better than the Bravia 8 (OLED)? Mini-LED>OLED?

Apparently the Bravia 9 has a built in sound system and some type of mini led tech that’s being used for the first time in this tv. That’s probably why it’s priced a little higher. It’s supposed to be the greatest mini led tv EVER! lol it better be good. That G4 looks like a dream.

If this one costs less than Samsungs and LG:s OLED:s, yeah, it'd be interesting, but we all know Sony wants us to pay more than OLED prices for their Mini-LED.

Correct me if I’m wrong I don’t think that Sony Bravia nine has local dimming zones Feature on this TV

The Bravia 9 is so close but can't get over only two hdmi 2.1 ports still. It is 2024, this is embarrassing. It's not 2020 anymore and hdmi 2.1 is not something new. Maybe in 2025 and the waiting game continues...

One of the kickers is the TV is only limited to 2 HDMI 2.1 ports. But everything else is a bonafide upgrade from their last few 4K Mini LED models over the years. I'm glad they really focused their full efforts on making a real flagship mini LED TV this year with Bravia 9. I think BC of the price and how big & heavy this TV is going to be only a few ppl will pre order and buy it. This will be similar to the Z9K in the sales.
