glad to see more and more manufacturers building aperture rings into their lenses. using these is so convenient when shooting! as a fuji user: good work sony :)

Just made the crop sensor to full frame transition to the A74. Was going to get Pat Kay’s “one lens forever” lens (16-35gm) until you got me going with this video. I am thinking perhaps the 24-70 could be more of a financial return type of lens (for events) then perhaps the 16-35gm could come after? Just thinking out loud over here. Oh, and I absolutely am obsessed with your work.

I am going to get this lens. This is a focal range I use and I am upgrading from the a6700 with the 16-55mm f2.8 to the a7cr and this lens. With a full frame camera and lens, the low light and bokeh performance will still be better than I am used to, so it should be a very good lens for me. I am still learning and figuring out what type of photography I like best, so I feel a zoom will help me learn which focal lengths I will use the most. Then I can buy a few primes for the special effects they provide. I also want the 16-35mm and 70-200 zooms, but one at a time for now.

Great review! Just got this baby recently myself! So convenient for wedding shoots and travel! Also combined with my 35mm GM f/1.4 I'm all set!

I have the 24-70 GMii and the 35mm 1.4 as well, but I find myself not grabbing the 35 much anymore. In what circumstances do you go for the 35?
@thispak

@John D I personally like to use the 35mm for street photography, detail shots, and some environmental portraits

I feel tempted. I have never owned 24-70mm as they were all big, bulky and heavy that I don`t want to carry the whole day. I own 35/55/85 primes and F4 16-35/70-200 zooms. I do mainly travel and street photography and my wife gets sometimes short on patience from the continuous lens changes. :) Since we travel together therefore I also have to take that into consideration and with this lens I think I could eliminate quite some of those lens changes. Although to places like New York or Japan I would still need something on the wider end plus a prime for low light situations.

Finally getting the 70-200mm GM II shipped to me and the 24-70mm GM II is on order. I had the original versions but sold them a couple of years ago because they were so heavy. Since then I've used primes. Look forward to comparing the new zooms to the primes. Guess I should start saving for the 16-35mm GM II.

Do you like 24-70 gm ii or is prime also goodlike 85mm?
@PhotoTrekr
@PhotoTrekr 4 ай бұрын
@@user-qk7kt9ts2x Funny you should ask. Just last night I was looking at primes compared to the same focal length on my zooms. The GM zooms are excellent. But, I still think that the image quality is even better at all apertures on the GM primes. Just depends on what you need. A zoom or a prime.

I have been waiting for your review on the new Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8... The reason why is cause I wanted to buy the new sony 70-200 mark ll or a 24-70.... but then I saw the Tamron and I've seen so many good reviews of it... So I would like to know what do you think about such lens...

Hey Pat, great video, did you use f/2.8 on the Opera house shot because the lack of detail/DOF needed to capture vs the Harbour Bridge photo? or was it just for demo purposes? Also I thought saw you say you weren't a fan of zooms, does this lens change your opinion? Thank you!

Looks fantastic as I had assumed! Really glad to see them getting the mfd down, especially at the long end. Unless I become suddenly very wealthy I will be waiting for the Sigma mk ii. Thanks for the video and would love to see more footage and slideshow of shots you've gotten with this lens!

For real a mk ii sigma would be great. Get the barrel distortion under control a bit, lets get the weight down and maybe sharpen up those corners a bit and I’m in.

I just received my Sony GM2 24-70. Are the internal elements in free state and rattle when camera not connected? Is that Normal? Will it not damage anything inside during travel?
@DavidStella
@DavidStella Жыл бұрын
Yes, that’s normal, nothing is wrong with the lens. The focusing motors are turned off, that’s what you’re hearing.
