In response to the usual purist responses - Clearly its going to be a DSP layer on top of the raw audio, but there's a good reason for solutions like this. Headphones are unable to accurately recreate nearfield speaker setups which most recordings are mixed and recorded with. Individuals vary in greatly with imprecise generalized head-related transfer functions which is used in response to an inherent distortion arising from headphone drivers being placed perpendicular to the ear, creating different accoustics. HRTF factors include differing ear shapes so its interesting that they are trying to use a machine learning approach to better fine tune a personalized HRTF function. Stereo imaging has long been an issue with headphone design, so I'm interested to see where this going. Its certainly not an easy problem to solve.

I tried this out with a fresh pair of AirPods Pro. I heard some of the sources in the right places, but I heard a small weird ghosting effect with a few sources above or behind me, that made it harder for me to pinpoint the intended location. But overall, this video works well for this pair of earbuds.

Totally agree... it's better to test this with your eyes shut - in those cases it didn't sound much different to stereo. The exception was the "rear" and that just sounded muffled. I think that for the majority of people, this comes down to suggestability... for a minority, it might make a difference.

Its a shame that I can’t even test this out with music unless I want to pay for tidal or deezer, as off right now I can’t tell weather 360 audio is something to be excited about, this video shows me that it’s a real thing and could potentially be cool but guesse I won’t find out for a fat min smh why deezer over Spotify?😂

Pink Floyd (die beiden erfolgreichsten Alben), Jean-Michel Jarre (Oxygene/Equinoxe), Yello (alle Alben ab 1980), Hans Zimmer, Blank & Jones, Chill Out Music (ala Cafe Del Mar), High End Music allgemein (gibt genügend bekannte Einzeltitel).

I don't think any record has mixed with a 360 audio approach yet. Maybe just cinema audio. All records are still on stereo, so this feature is useless and/or is just distorting original audio.
@Ajajambo4 жыл бұрын
Angel Ramirez (M&F) completely agree, I was actually confused whether the software enhance the song to 360 or it must be recorded in 360 first. I installed Tidal just to compare song for song with ITunes and guess what it sounds the same. So I guess if the song isn’t recorded or mastered to 360 there is no benefits in using this option at this point until later ......

From what I can tell, Atmos is a channel based system. Meaning there is a defined channel for each of the locations they expect audio. You tell it where the sound is coming from, and going to. 360 Reality Audio is touted as being more of a 'sound engine' where a program is given parameters (X/Y/Y Coordinates, Yaw (maybe roll?)) and then produces this 'rendered' audio.

In short, headphones vs. no headphones. I have Atmos in my TV room, 360 RA on my headphones/phone.

Manuel: Luigi! Come out here, I found one of your admirers! I think they want a haircut with autograph, but they didn't say where they wanted it. Luigi: I know just the spot right between the... (whispers) left ear... and... (whispers) right ear. Right there on the back of the head. Oh, Manuel... it'd look so nice. 😂 They should create a new version like that.
