The results look so close, but since the difference is very subtle, I prefer the lighter, smaller Sony. Of course, none of this matters if you don’t shoot the mount of the lens you prefer. Sony can’t make a 85 1.2 due to the 46.1mm size of E-Mount
@michaelcliffordphotosАй бұрын
@@hikertrashfilms Why does that prevent making an 85 1.2?
@hikertrashfilmsАй бұрын
@@michaelcliffordphotos it’s not enough space to allow light to hit the edges of the sensor on a super fast telephoto. Nikon had a 44mm F-Mount since 1959, and could never make an effective 1.2 lens beyond the 58mm focal length. Canon had a 54mm EF mount that debuted in the 80s and they came with their first 85 1.2 in the 80s. It took Nikon over 3 decades to match Canon at 85, and it was when they abandoned the 44mm mount and moved to a 55mm mount.

@CarthodonАй бұрын
By and large I do not think most people can actually tell the difference between lenses which are above a certain quality, all of the lenses you mentioned meet that standard. For portraits what people notice more is the depth of field, and that's the advantage of having one of those primes. Beyond that, stunning photos happen in your skill with the camera and editing. I'd worry more about getting something you're comfortable with. People get the zooms because they do not want to switch lenses which is a huge advantage in a wedding situation, and the lens with the most versatility would be the tamron or samyang (which is cheaper) 35-150. If this is specific to portrait sessions where you have basically full control over lighting and composition, of this list I'd go with the 85 sigma because its going to have the thinnest depth of field. If you really want to buy the lens with the highest optical performance, a lens I never used but based off what I've seen online, I'd go with the sony 50 1.2.

@@DanielRodriguez-fg5ll No it just makes no real world difference, you are fussing about nothing. I dont think you can percieve what is just over a third of a stop difference in iso. in aperture yes, iso you cant, shutter speed you cant. @DanielRodriguez-fg5llАй бұрын
@@HikingWithMartin maybe. but if that is going to be the approach and the model is stationary, I would argue then that the real comparison is to use minim ISO, ISO64 in the Z8, Z9. At the end of the video, where you talk about "bigger/bulkier/heavier" lenses -- I want to point out something that really only gets mentioned sporadically (if at all), the MOUNT SIZE (& function). Nikon Z has the largest mount compared to Sony/Canon/Fuji etc. I guess on the "con" side, this makes Nikon make larger/bulkier/heavier lenses bc the mount lends itself to it. But it has a whole bunch of "pros" that don't get enough attention/mentions/love: the big one being it DOESN'T "bend light" as much, if it all, due to the larger mount & it sitting closer to the sensor. This also allows more light to get to the sensor too, even when shooting higher apertures. As things have shifted to Mirrorless, one of the big complaints has been about "Nikon Z bodies/lenses 'being heavy/bulky'" -- particularly, Sony shooters lol NO HATE, just an observation -- but there is a reason for it & design/functionality involved. Nikon is innovating & pushing gear to the next level, I just don't think it gets talked about in a way that gets as much hype as new Eye-AF tech or something 😅 which is a shame.
@Tap-a-rooАй бұрын
There's very little difference between f/1.4 and f/1.2 for bokeh. The DIFFERENCE is the size of the front element, and the Nikon is 5mm larger ... so it will always produce much better results.
