The buzz around the Sony A6300 has been it's claim as the fastest auto focus system in the world. It's especially revolutionary given the fact that it works so well with Canon lenses and Sony A mount lenses with adapters.
In this video Jason used the Sony 70-400 G lens with the LAEA3 adapter on the A6300. He tested focusing with moving objects running towards the camera, people moving side to side, tracking birds and more.
We hope you enjoy it and that this video helps you guys out there to make the best decisions for you and your use! Please take a moment to stick around watch some more while you're here!
Thanks,
Jason Lanier Photography

I love that you can use this adapter. That just opens up a whole new world of lenses to use. When I had Canon, I used to look for lenses on ebay, and companies usually made them for Nikon, Canon, and Sony A mount. Now....I can take advantage of that without getting an A mount body :)

Nice review! I would like to see you shoot some sort of motorsports - It would be an interesting test to see if the 6300 can track a subject moving at speeds in excess of 100mph. Preferably 200-400mm at 1/250 and under...

dear Jason, If possible can you test the A6300 with the older screw-driven top-glass (300mmf2.8 Minolta - 400mmf4.5 and if possible the 600mmf4) - i'd like to know how good the a6300/a7II are with these oldies but goldies. I suspect we'll have to do it with the la-ea4 - it'd be nice to see how good it works with the a6300.

My critical need is for ISO 1600 to 3200 or 6400. The a6000 I have is good but I need a lot more light sensitivity for indoor shots even with the Sony 35mm f1.8 prime; rare for me to get ISO below 800. From what have seen the a6300 may solve my issue. Hopefully there will be actual pictures at the range soon as a good test for low light for me is coming up in early April. The lenses I have now (especially the f4 18-105) should do well for the NY Auto show before then as I rarely have to go above ISO 200 for that; LOTS of bright lights.
@dunnymonster
@dunnymonster 8 жыл бұрын
The focus is very impressive and will improve further using a native e mount lens. My only issue is that like the A6000 the camera is making the decision what to focus on. My very simple A5100 has touch to focus and is outstanding because I can select exactly which subject I want to have in focus in a crowd. Once it locks it keeps that subject in focus across the frame. This is why the A6300 has been a bit of a disappointment, we want touch screen not for the menus but so we can tell the camera what specifically what we want to focus on because withheld A6300 you have to "find" the subject in the centre area before it locks on. With touch to focus I can assign the subject focus off centre for panning/sideways movements.

Thanks a ton for the video, this is the video that sealed the deal for me. Btw, I own version 2 of the 70-400g, and when I compare the focusing performance of that, versus version 1 (the one you used in the video) there is a big advantage to version 2 in terms of speed and tracking abilities, in other words, this camera with the LA EA3 and newer Sony A mount lenses might provide even better results than the already impressive results seen in this video. Again, thank you for the video, look forward to the next one :)

Quick Question: I am a college student and money is very tight. I am coming from a Nikon D90 and Nikkor 35mm F2.0 lens. (which I sold on CL to partly finance my A6300 purchase) I am planning on getting the Sony A6300 in the coming weeks once it is released. I wanted to know what you would recommend as a good budget prime lens? I would love to own good glass such as what you show in your videos but I am on a budget and looking for cheap and good (relatively speaking of course) if such a thing exists. Many Thanks... Great videos BTW... Keep up the good work! -M

so you were using the "wide area" focus zone for action shots? really? letting the camera choose where to focus on? why would anyone want to do that? Here's what I found out about the serious limitations the A6300 does have when using A-mount lenses (limiting the available focus modus when used with an adapter): www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3976376 it's interesting to see that no review does mention these limitations. makes me wonder how serious those guys test their gear.

Hugo, besides battery life, my only other beef with Sony is the one SD card slot. For weddings and sports, super important feature to have two slots. The portable battery pack idea may be something I research a bit because that could be a good workaround for some things.

Nobody shoots like this in the NFL they use single point or 9 point, CH 12 fps 14 bit raw, pro glass 400 2.8 and more. I shoot pro extreme sports and never let the camera AF all over the screen. This looks like a great camera but the buffer is to low to compete for soccer or NFL or MMA.

+Paul Nelson From videos I've seen it takes around 10 seconds to fill the buffer shooting RAW+JPEG and it remains snappy after the buffer fills firing 2-3 shot bursts indefinitely. While not the worlds best that's still an impressive result for a camera that costs 1/5th the price. It would be interesting if Sony made a camera and lens that cost 5x as much as these considering how well this gear performs.

Thx for the video, but u could be discriminating and showing also thing what the equipment cannot do. It always seems that you just selling the products from Sony and only showing the good side. I wish your video would be more complete, because I like what your doing. however, no system is perfect and I would like to the real thing. If not I could watch the promotion videos from sony instead!
