How do you download RAW file to Lightroom?

After copying your files from you SD to your computer's designation, go to Lightroom and hit import (in Light Classic you make sure you are in the library tab). Browse to the location of the raw files you copied onto your computer select them all and hit preview. Now in preview you allowed to see the thumbnails of each of the images. From there you select which ones you want to bring in lightroom and then hit import. When it comes to sending files to my smartphone it only sends jpeg and I have not figured out how to send raw files to my phone yet.
