Hi T.E.D., great stuff per usual. I had the Lumix G85, GX85 and now a G9 which lives on a tripod in my "studio" with a SmallHD monitor and Rode video mic pro forever connected to it. I do film camera reviews mostly (thus my channel name) and really like the video quality and pretty much everything about the Lumix cameras. The G85 has better video quality that the latest Olympus OM-D EM-whatever (which I bought and returned for that reason) and is probably better for video than the latest and greatest in 2019. I was blown away by how the Lumix G85 outperformed my Nikons also for video. The crappy continuous Auto-FOCUSING is infuriating from a camera that does everything else so WELL! It's got to be embarrassing for them to have such bad continuous AF on such an otherwise great camera. And to be clear, it's just the continuous AF that sucks-not the other modes. More accurately, the Lumix's can't do that trick that Sony and Canon do so well like when the camera is focused on your face and then you hold an object (a camera in my case) a foot or so in front of you (like in a camera review video), it won't smoothly (or at all) autofocus on to the camera that i'm holding in front of me! I don't understand why Panasonic can't get this issue resolved. At the end of the day it's about content and not equipment, so just get the G85 (learn to work around this issue like I did) and go out and make great videos.

@HavokSage4 жыл бұрын
It boils down to Autofocus or IBIS... Which of these is the biggest problem? is it 5 seconds of extra effort to manually focus the camera, or is it lugging a big expensive gimbal around with you while travelling. If you want to create high quality content (which is the point of bringing one of these with you anyway) why not spend the extra few seconds to make sure you're in focus. Even the sony autofocus can fail sometimes.

I initially bought my g85 for a period of 5 months and gosh Its a very sturdy camera, everything else is great but trust me. That Auto-focus is so discouraging a serious pain in the heart. It ruins every damn thing especially if you're a solo content creator. Always have to be wondering if it's in focus, despite having many autofocus modes it easily gets lost and barely recovers. If u shoot manual and have your focus fixed at a focal length then perhaps you're good but we know that sucks... It has a good IBIS, rather the best, but who cares about that when you're not in focus? lol. I dont plan to sit on a chair and talk or shoot all day. I plan to do photography, cinematography, vlog, and others. I mean versatility should be key. For its price, it's a good one of u wanna learn anger management. I got frustrated so fast and waited for the stores to open from Covid and added more cash and got me my a6400 and oboiii!!! Instantly It blew me away. I got the telephoto lense 55-210, I still use it and instantly I knew I was set. And for 2000rs I got the 16-50mm kit lense. The difference is absolutely clear. Yes the sony lacks inbuilt IBIS, but it's lense has "steadyshot" which brings some decent stabilization. The Auto-focus is ranked as the best of untouchable out there. It NEVER loses track of subject. Even if I don't select it, it selects me by eye autofocus, then if my eyes are far, it switches to face/head asap, then if face is far it switches to subject tracking automatically. Like damn it's so reliable. Super fast auto-focus. So damn quick in acquiring target, extremely fast, accurate and sensitive, it hasn't ever let me down there. Perfect for photography/videography/vlog. Yes it doesn't have in-built IBIS, but I got a gimbal to make up for that, u can't mske up for a poor and excrutiatingly painful slow/sluggish autofocus from g85, it's almost as if it doesn't feel like focusing but you're forcing it out of bed in the winter morning/night to focus on a subject and its complaining or nagging to get the job done and will ofcourse still lose it again. However, the g85 had an easy interface, very basic and easy to navigate, especially with the custom dials which you could assign functions to, and the use of full navigable touchscreen. The sony is a full system with a lot of features, few custom dials depending on modes but not the most easiest navigation to comprehend by rookies, as u gotta use buttons, the touchscreen is reserved for focussing, tracking and zooming, but soon you'll be glad u got it. The g85 costs me 54,000rs, my a6400 costs me a lakh, twice the amount, but with two lenses. and for all that feat, I'm glad. Plus I got Sigma lenses later on and I'm loving every bit of it. No regrets for the sony. 😌😌😌 Yes pricey, but promising and gets it done. And ofcourse they both suck at battery life just like all cameras, canon and the rest lol.

@@najmgamer4172 nah fuck that. Nobody fucks with nikon. There’s a reason why no major KZbinrs and content creators use nikon. They’re photo-centric cameras. Terrible lens selection and no mount adapters. I suggest you buy a canon m50 with a speed booster and put a full frame lens on. That eliminates the crop factor and gives you 2 extra stops of aperture
@alpinthor3 жыл бұрын
the g85 autofocus is the worst in it's class BUT still manageable, its has the best ibis in its class and weather shield for cheap price, meanwhile m50 autofocus only good in fullhd and the a6400 doesn't have ibis and weather shield so does the m50. I have the g85 and i love it, pair it with sigma 16mm f/1.4 then you have the best bang for the money, ibis weather shield very good bokeh and low light.

Hey Everyday Dad! I love your videos! I'm a beginning film creator and have a small budget. I've spent weeks researching and stressing over what camera i need. I like this video that compares this Sony with the Lumix G85. I was about to get the Lumix until I heard that the Sony doesn't have great stabilization. I specifically want to film moving cars from a tandem vehicle hopefully without a big gimbal. But I would assume that I would really need good auto focus for that. What do you think? Thanks!
@samamoataz19384 жыл бұрын
If you are Filming Cars or Something like that You will need Stabilization More than Auto Focus, You can always manual Focus and it will be much better no big deal but if you Would Vlog more Or smt like that, you will need the auto Focus more, It depends on your needs.

At 9:32 time line, Everyday Dad says the G85 has terrible autofocus...some of the worst in the game... Isn't that a deal breaker for some who rely on auto focus? Why exactly is the auto focus "terrible" on the G85? Or for that matter, why do I see so many reviews for various Panasonic Lumix cameras of the same story of poor autofocusing? This really puzzles me.

Content creators care more about video quality than the viewers. I never watch anything in 4k. As long as it looks better than a 5-8 year old phone and the audio is good i don't care. Content over quality imo. And if you go on holiday and shoot video, my 2 year old phone does the job.

Hello friend, one question, do you recommend the Sony a6000 for long streams, I have a little doubt and fear since I do live streams on twitch and they are long maybe 4 or maybe 6 hours and obviously the camera will be connected to a fake battery connected to the electricity all the time, that's why the reason for my fear when streaming I don't know if the camera overheats they told me that the Lumix G85 doesn't overheat in video and I don't know which one to choose I would appreciate it if you gave me your opinion, I hope see your answers, thanks.

Hi Daddy! Haha! I just wanna ask if can you do a specific technical video about the SONY A6400 Unlimited Recording Functionality specifically for gamers who record videos for around 4 to 6 hours of gameplay with a facecam. 1. Do recording files still split into 4gb like the usual recording stuff? ( I hope it doesn't split) We usually record for long hours on 1080p at 60fps to match our gameplay fps footage. 2. How large is the file size for around a 4 to 6-hour recording? 3. What are the compatible AC Adapter Kit to power the camera continuously? 4. Is Atomos Ninja V still recommended to buy even if the Sony A6400 has no recording limit? I have been looking for this information around youtube and I actually found someone who recorded it for quite a long time (but only in 4k) and the actual files were not actually shown in the video. Thanks and Cheers!

A6600, just an A6500, updated to A6400 feature set, runs cooler and longer, IBIS, and would be nice if battery grip worked more like the A7 series with controls being passed through the dummy battery plate

miEye rebel T7i with the kit lens and a 50mm - excellent autofocus , a panasonic Lumix G85 with the kit lens and a 25mm - has IBIS image stability , or if you can push the budget - the GH4 - a almost pro video camera . Also honorable mentions - Canon 6D (with magic lantern upgrade) - many used cameras are really cheap , and its full frame . I use one and the colors are really good , its a bit old now though.
