By far one of the best reviews of the "Alpha"7 IV. :) I'm definitely looking at getting this camera...so glad that I did not pull the trigger on the A7C or the A6600 as a secondary camera. I will get this one instead and the A7III will become the second camera. Really glad they did the flip screen and the better menu on this camera...the main reason I was considering the A7C.

The a7c is good to use on new crane m3 though. And it is very competent photo and video camera with very good 4k2504, and very good 1080p/60/120 and good autofocus. Compact in the bag and smaller footprint on the gimbal. But for sure the a7iv has a lot of improvements as well.

I wish these camera manufacturers would give us the option to record 4K in 4K without any downsampling. 4K recorded in 4K can still be sharp and would allow you to record longer without the concern of overheating.

If you're talking about 1:1 readout, the APS-C mode is close. If you're talking about a lineskipped mode, I agree. I wish every company would offer a pixel binned/line skipped readout option and a downscaled option, not only would it give better battery life and produce less heat but it would also have less rolling shutter.

Looks pretty decent, that price tag still has a sting to it, I don't have enough to sell to go up to that price point. £2k would have been an upper max. Maybe prices will come down over next 6 months and make it possible. They did great in adding the flip screen and new menus. shame no 4k 120p but its clear that is their golden goose.

the 4K60 Crop is a deal breaker. WHEN will Sony release a 30+ MP Full frame with 4K60 that isn't the A1. they still don't have a true "All Rounder" Camera. always some sort of compromise

@@luanzondervan7402 because if the A7S3 And A1 have it. why can't this? why hinder it with crop. it would of been the perfectttt all rounder otherwise. now you have to compromise. do you want 4k60 and just 12mp (so limiting on photos). or do you want high mp and 4k60 but its expensive as shit. the A7R series have only 4k 24/30. so there's really no good option that fits all boxes.

Great video Gene, thank you. I am lucky enough to have the Sony a1, but I am looking for a B cam for many scenarios and I am considering the A7IV. The concern I have with the rolling shutter issues is, I shoot a lot of kids dance concerts. A question for you: If I had the A7IV locked off on a tripod for the wide shot to capture the whole stage (so the kids would be fairly small), so you think it would be an issue? The kids would be moving through the frame quickly, but I am not sure that at a distance the rolling shutter would be an issue. I’d appreciate your views. (Oh, I’d be shooting in either 24 or 30frames 4K). Thanks so much. ✌️
