@@runhardhooah I do not have any of Sony's APS-C cameras. I have a Fuji XT-4 for some hybrid uses. Any modern full-frame would be a great upgrade, especially if you shoot in low light frequently. Great info! I'm thinking about joining team Sony. I mostly shoot talking head footage in 4k 30. I am debating between the a7IV and Cannon (R6?). My only hesitancy is that, side-by-side, the Cannon footage seems to have punchier, more vibrant colors and skin tones out of camera. However, colors look good in this video! Do you think that I can achieve Canon (or better) colors out of camera (without grading)? Thanks again!

Yes you'll be able to match Canon colour science with a slight adjustment of tint or contrast etc. Plus you can create your own colour profiles etc. So I would 100% get the Sony because there's no 30 min record limit. Sometimes talking heads go over, and it's such a pain.

I literally just saw a video titled; '' Is Canon R6 still good today?'' and the video was made couple months ago in June of 2021... Canon R6 was released in July of 2020... THAT'S 11 MONTHS AFTER THE CAMERAS RELEASE!!! Is an 11 month old camera still good?!?! OF-FU*KING-COURSE IT IS!! People are winning photography awards and still doing work with 8, 9 or even 10 year old cameras, while people on KZbin are complaining if their 2-3 (in this case 4) year old camera is still good enough?! What?! I have a 1DXll and I've only just now, two weeks ago, decided to upgrade to the a7IV - NOT BECAUSE 1DXll IS ''OUTDATED,'' because it's not, it produces way better images than the a7IV but because I wanted to finally jump to a mirrorless camera. I don't know what's wrong with people on Instagram and KZbin but you people need a reality check ASAP.

IS is a very personal thing. The IS control loop includes the photographer and the designer cannot possibly design for every photographer. So they have to design for the 'average' camera handler, which depends on the mathematical and mechanical models the designer chooses to use. In recent years this is the CIBA model and that does not agree with a lot of real people, and we see impressive stop number inflation that people do not experience in person. Hopefully this does not turn into the same sort of thing that has been seen in the "designed for test" fuel economy "improvements" in cars. In the end, whether a "designed for CIBA tests" IS is good for someone only that someone can decide after personal testing. If it does not work for you, tough luck as in the future we will only have this type of IS.

A9 definitely.the only reason to choose a7iv over the a9 is the video aspect,a9 is lack of PP but if you dont color grade or even dont do video,then a9 will be a better choice.24mp vs 33mp isnt that difference,almost unnoticeable.but the AF and fps of a9 is just way ahead of a7iv.they say it (a7iv) has the same autofocus system as a1 but it’s not,it just has the same phase detection number.but the AF/AE calculation is nowhere near a9,let alone a1.(a7iii is 20 calculation per second,a9 is 60 calculation/s and a1 is 120 calculation/s) it might improve a bit from a7iii but still doesnt even close to a9.

@M Tech I think you're wrong. It's a 37.5% increase, that's significant and should be noticeable. Look at T&C's video comparing the a7iii to the eos R, where the resolution difference is an advantage for the Canon. You can also see it on dpreview's image comparison. Watch any video about how resolution affects the print sizes you can make. If you think high-MP cameras are over-hyped that's fine, but in the extreme cases like presented in this video, I don't understand why the difference wouldn't be more cut and dry.

Sony doesn't care. They are a multi-billion dollar corporation, all they care is that people buy the stuff, that's it. They want eyeballs looking at the videos then going out and buying their stuff. Tony's video came out yesterday and this one still has almost 50,000 views, only a handful of people got more views. I mean Sony literally leaked everything the camera had the day before anyway. LOL

I connected the HDMI port from my Sony A7 IV to a 4K TV, i see it well, everything all ok. But if I shoot myself eg. Vlog I have everything reversed on the TV screen. This it a big problem for me. I have to discover out how the 'mirror' + 'reverse' mode so that i can see the movements in the correct direction on the TV.

NO, the SD cards are not the real reason why A73 was slow. I use Sandisk Extreme Pro (90MB version) on 5D4 and it can write 30mp raw file basically without stop. The real reason here is a slow SD controller on the Sony. Also, i shoot 4k video on the 5D4 with the very same cards and have no issue. And 5D4 has a very big bitrate in 4k.

Tony & Chelsea, If money is not a major factor which would you recommend for all around camera ( Sports, wildlife, family and landscapes on vacation) Sony A7iv, A9-2, or A1? And why?
@taraxa2872 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this video, So what i take from this: the Sony A7III is still an amazing camera, unless you have one of the following issues, you really shouldnt switch: - you like to work with an improved touch screen (here i am missing the screen quality comparisson in the video, but spoiler: there isnt much difference at all) - you already have very good lenses and you already hit the boundaries of the a7iii in animal or sport fotography, but here, why not go for the A7RIII instead? - you shoot a lot of videos and you benefit from the better autofocus I kinda think that canabalizing products is bad, but in case of sony, they really could have made the a7IV stand out more in comparrisson to its A7RIII rival

Thank you all!

Honestly i dont think its really big difference For 700$ The only reason you would -Is if you care about the oversampled video -The screen -the wifi on the app -the buffer size -and the eye af- which is useless in my opinion -touch to zoom and navigate - shutter closes when changing lenses If you really care about color just get a canon 😂😂

No way, the usability and ergonomics, buttons, and menu alone are worth getting the iv, I've used the a7iii for years and I hate how annoying the usability is.

...can I have one of each? I'm attracted by the screen and menu enhancements, but I take low light landscape photos, and it looks like the A7III wins at that.

incredible a 2017 1900€ camera is not as good as a 2700€ 2024 camera from the same brand ,how could that be possible? and btw i prefer the dedicated dial , also why do you think they took the lock button out of the mode dial on the iii , so how is it an improvement on the multi dial. and for video i use a camcorder , have problems understanding that camera stuff with a less than ideal body fo holding.
@Daniel_Ilyich Жыл бұрын
Sharper images from a sensor? That's not a characteristic of a sensor. Sensors have more or less resolution. Of course, the A7 IV resolves more detail, but that can be limited by the sharpness of the lens being used. If anything, a higher resolving lens will make the softness of a lens more evident when zooming in at 100% or more.

Thanks y'all 🙏 UPDATE: Just watched your comparison here, and I feel a little bad to upgrade to any camera from the a6000, which has been such a great starter camera that I got as a gift only a year ago. I think I'll surely upgrade to the a7iii before anything else, though figuring out when will be the trick. Thank you guys again for the inspiring and awesome video!

That's how I started 3/2019. I bought the A7III 9 months later and STILL struggling to unlock its full potential. I would humbly suggest that the A7III will keep you satisfied for the next 2-3 years. In the meantime buy full frame lenses not APS-C and prepare for the (major) jump

Very nice review, Tony & Chelsea. I can tell right off the bat you are extremely knowledgeable on the information. I have the A7SIII as well as the A7C. I use the A7SIII for shooting my videos and then the A7C is used for my thumbnails as well as recreational photography. I am deciding whether it is worth it to upgrade my A7C to the A7IV -- it will be used primarily for photography. Though I do not see the A7IV being a good video substitute for my A7SIII as it looks like the A7SIII remains video king -- especially when shooting 4K.

Tony & Chelsea, I have an A7Riiia I use for weddings and portraits mostly. I have been waiting for the A7iV to come out because I need a 2nd camera, specifically for weddings. If I get a good price on the A7R4 it is not much more than the A74. Which would you buy? I don't really need 61mp, is the Autofocus on the A7R4 as good as this new A74? That would probably be my most important factor. Will the buffering while shooting multiple shots be faster on the A74 because of the new CF card slot (and the lower mp (than the R)? Great content and videos, you guys are awesome! Thank You

How about encryption? When you first get the camera you set-up a public/private key pair and save your decryption key on your pc / smartphone app etc.. so you can easily decrypt your files are you ingest them but anyone else the camera would be useless (they could even offer a cloud backup for your key as you register your camera on purchase). Selling, simply hand over the private key and allow the new user to generate their own new key. This way you're offering zero impact to the usability of the camera, there's no delay turning it on, no having to punch in a pin, wait for a finger print / face sensor, so you'll never miss a shot or be inconvenienced and the whole thing can be done via a firmware update for existing cameras. Doesn't have to be forced, if you don't want to turn it on, up to you, but enough will and that'll be enough to make cameras not worth stealing.

Is teleconverter worth to spend money on now? Earlier Tony said TC gave worse result compare to cropping. Is that only true for some lenses, cameras or combinations? If im not mistaken he said that about the Sony 200-600/5,6-6,3.
