Absolutely the best camera review I’ve seen. You’ve gained a subscriber and I’m glad this video was a recommendation on the part of KZbin for me. Thank you for the hard work in putting this together. I’ve never seen the level of detail with another review of any camera in diving into the menu system and showing exactly what the options allow in such a clear and quick manner. Made watching the video not boring at all and very understandable. I look forward to exploring your channel more fully. Also, by placing the not sponsored caveat in the description compelled me to choose the video in the first place - thanks for that

I was not a Sony fan at all. But the Sony A7R4 really changed my opinion. For me this camera is god sent. I use it extensively for Wildlife work and here this camera really shines. You can do a 100% crop and still come up with a 27MP image. And this at 10fps, 68 RAW file buffer and a very good autofocus system. For me this camera is a game changer for my wildlife work. A Sony 400mm 2.8 GM you can use as 400mm 2.8 at 61MP or by switching into crop mode, you get a 600mm 2.8 at 27MP. What I really like is that you can program the function ring on the Sony 400mm 2.8 or Sony 600mm 4.0 as trigger for entering or leaving crop mode. How great is that. The Sony A7R4 have been also improved in regard of the housing. I am really excited about the A7R4. Well done, Sony.

Phenomenal videos on the A7R IV, thank you. I shoot mostly long exposures, in bulb mode. Is there no way to set apertures greater than 30 seconds without using an external timer/release? Not even through the Imaging Edge app? It would seem to be an easy setting to include, as interval shooting is now included.

Hi I am interested in the sony a7r 4 camera but I am not sure if my laptop will take 61 megapixel camera file. its an i7 and 8.00gb laptop. would I need new software for running that kind of camera loadings. because the A9ii is only 24mgpixels.using raw images, would the A9ii be a better camera as far as loading the files from the camera to my computer?
@MaartenHeilbron
@MaartenHeilbron 4 жыл бұрын
It sounds to me as if that's a fairly recent and powerful system. A little more RAM couldn't hurt, but also consider that you'll need a lot of disk space, so an extra external drive might be useful. However, if these are concerns that you have, what are the issues driving you to the A7R series - would an A6400 or A6600 which offers nearly identical functionality at lower resolution be a better solution?
@marilynzanca7712
@marilynzanca7712 4 жыл бұрын
If the A7r 4 is too bigger files for 8gb ram, what about the A9ii it only has 24megapixels. I already have a camera with that amount of pixels and does well, no problems.

@MaartenHeilbron

You don't really need a computer to use the A7R4, but you will need one to manage and edit your photos. It's a high-end expensive camera. Purchase a computer of equivalent quality - my recommendation is a new iMac or MacBook Air with a large external hard drive. Those will have the computing power to manage the large files in Lightroom or other photo editing software.

Great review. I was a hardcore Nikon shooter for 30+ years, but switched from my trusty D3X to the Sony A7RIII (because of the D850 launch debacle), and now the A7RIV (My wife shoots the A7RIII!!). One thing that you might like. For when you have the proper lens and the composition, and need to use 10fps. Switch to APS-C mode and the buffer increases significantly. Somewhere around 300+?? With a buffer of that size, we should be able to get all of the fast moving action we need!!

The best way to improve your skills is to create photographs and study them to determine what you don't like and needs to be improved for the next time. The best way to learn the features of a camera is to try them out to see how they work and then determine how they might help your work. And apologies, when I say "the best way", I do mean the best way for me, as I realize that everyone's learning style is different. Amazing camera for the price. To think that EOS R and Z7 initially launched at similar price point last year is laughable. The A7r4 gives us a lot of tech for the money.

When it arrives, don’t dive deeper than you need. Over time the settings will appear as they are needed.

He intentionally makes the menus seem more complicated than they really are, which is worse because I am sure you have already heard other people complain about them. It really isn't that bad. Each area of the menu has a category titles. My problem is that I forget where things are because I put everything I actually need in the 'my menu' area.

@@nasoj21 I clearly demonstrate everything I show you - please let me know where you feel I'm being misleading. Sony's menus are complicated and because they have not bothered to think their way through all the usability issues there are lots of inconsistencies.

Indeed - I’ve always found it far easier to ignore settings that I don’t need than to use settings that I do need when they are unfortunately not even present! Manufacturers can only simplify menus by leaving features out, thus reducing choice and flexibility. Great reviews, thank you!

Aren't we as civilization hitting a limit with racing for the best.. Hehehe best cars full of electronic gimmicks we never or seldom use in 30 min drive... Read the manual to change a thing... Confusions with the cell phone... Hehehe, now sonys crazy do it all.. Hehehe no thx just stopped at d750 really is more than I can handle.. If needed my next toy will be Pentax 645z if I can afford.. Yes going backwards less tech but better pics.. Would u do review of it not based on tech obviously but quality of pics

This camera wont perform very good in lowlight simply because of it's high mega pixel count. Clearly it is geared more toward high detail photography than video.
