I do struggle focusing manual lenses on the 5D even with the ee-s focusing screen, any tips? Glad you enjoyed the video.

Hi Chris, SOOC I like the Canon 5D colours much better. I have the same camera and also Canon 6D and these “vintage by today’s standards” cameras generate beautiful “less digital like” images and colours. Coming from Fujifilm APSC, which I also shoot with and like, there is certainly something special about the 5D Classic.

Totally agree, I'm still amazed at how well it does; you just have to ignore what it shows on the LCD straight after 😂

does the 6D produce the same pleasing images as the 5D? from what i can see, it looks similair albeit more saturated. im curious because with the 6D and live view mode i can mount more old lenses on it.

Interesting take. I have the 7s and it's become my goto camera. I love how even with the 16-35 f/4 lens, taking photos indoors or at dusk is no problem. With a 35/1.4 it's insane what you can photograph.

I'm yet to use it with native lenses, is it worth it or will the AF performance be frustrating? I'm tempted with the 55mm F1.8.

if you looking a better adapter, give a try to the 7Artisans EF-E mount adapter, I've tried on my A5100 & A6400 face tracking works like native but its contrast based only

I think I'm just going to stick with adapted vintage lenses on the Sony and maybe the Carl Zeiss 55mm at some point. Thanks for watching.

Interesting, I was thinking to get 5D Classic and compare RAW's between C and A7s/sII. Would be nice to see default LR flat processing, I found it strange that image is so different as LR should be optimized for flat response based on transfer curves for each sensor. Is it possible to share RAW's from this experiment?

Sorry, I only kept my favourite images from this comparison. I no longer have the Sony A7S. Have kept the Canon 5D though as IMO the images were better. I did like the A7S for use with manual lenses and did briefly upgrade to a Sony A9 but no longer have that camera either. I may be tempted with an A7S or A7 MK1 just to use with MF lenses at some point as it was a lot of fun.

Thanks Chris.. The 5d classic takes some beating even now totally unique in my opinion .. I owned the A7s and the A7 for a short time, technically great cameras, but I found the little 16mp nex 5n, and nex 6 where nicer soc jpeg's especially for colour . I still use these today with a leica L39 screw mount adapter and vintage jupiter lenses. Focus peaking is fantastic, tiny bodies, and a joy to use. Both cameras capable of stunning images.. As you say if you want to shoot in the dark the A7s has no equal. Great video again 👍.

Totally agree, the 5D is special and the A7S just needs some WB tweaks in post to make the images it produces great. Agree, that it's low light performance is also amazing. I have fed/Zorki cameras too and may get an L39 mount for it as well down the line. Thanks for watching.
