Sony RAW & External USB recording would be nice, but, if they could just fix the damn overheating! I'd hold onto the camera forever rather than looking to replace it. I still love the image A74 image!

If they can't do open gate on their full frame cameras they need at least a 2.8k Open gate, that would work on these 16:9 sensors. A7IV, A7SIII, Fx6 etc... And get rid of their useless 20 years old jerky stabilization algorythms..

A7IV is a Sony's successful camera, in Vietnam where I am living, there are many A7IV have been sold and became so popular for business purpose. For enthusiast like me it is just enough at least in next 3 years. It is a great hybrid camera love it so much

I used to have the A7IV and I still love it - I got rid of it because it did not have shutter angle and also no 6k - If it had those at least, with all the stuff it already had, I would have kept it. So I think to start with SONY A7V should have at least those two things, because LUMIX, and FUJI give you those along with great image quality. SONY has an edge with the autofocus, the image quality is amazing. So maybe if they can give us an option to have RAW or something like 12bit CDNG RAW video, with the option to record to SSD via USBC - Also if they can't give us a Global shutter or a stacked sensor, then they need to lower the price drastically to compete with the other brand models.

Shutter angle would be great in my A7iv. I'm holding on to the hope of getting it in a filmware update, one day. That's probably wishful thinking. All I'm asking for is shutter angle, the ability to load a LUT and compatibility with the monitor & control app. Nevermind the A7V. I want this in my A7iv 😅

@@Squidpaws- I agree I would rebuy the A7iV if I found out they updated the firmware with shutter angle option. Because the footage from that camera is amazing. The photos are brilliant. The dynamic range in the footage is beautiful, whether you shoot in log or not. It’s a beautiful camera.

Love the A74, still use to this day. I recently got hired for my Sony kit and the A74 is part of the package. Had it in a fairly warm environment running video on a tripod and it overheated. If Sony isn’t able to improve the heat dissipation then include a fan in the box. If they do I’d be the first to pre-order the A7V, or jump ship to the FX30. Currently contemplating!

Jump to the FX3. the built in fan is the reason why an FX30 is my 2nd camera to my A7SIII. No overheating. If you're getting paid to shoot, can't have any risk of overheating as a liability.

I just did the same, got the FX30 until the FX3 II is released. My A7IV over heated all the time even in mild weather. I got a bad copy no doubt.

The 4K60 will be what I'm looking for. Using the A7IV for a 2 week Japan trip, I chose 4K30 as I like having the motion of 24fps without the choppiness and the soap opera effect of 60fps. But soon found out that during pans, judder comes into effect. I'm mainly using the camera for travel so there's going to be a lot of running and gunning, compared to having the time for carefully crafted scenes. So I thought I'd compromise by going to 60fps, they're travel videos after all, not cinematic projects, but the crop will make even a wide 24mm to 36mm limiting it's use in smaller spaces. I'll have to experiment and see! But if the A7V has no crop or a smaller crop that would be nice. Seeing how the Nikon Z8 has the ability to record 4K60 from 8K and 4K120 sub-sampled at 45MP, I hope Sony can at least give 4K60 at 33MP.

Sony please do 40 megapixels. Not everyonr needs a resolutions camera but the ease of being able to crop more on a budget with 2 card slots and less than the a7r5 and ai chip And yes youre right. Heavily fix the readout speed

For the A75 to be truly relevant, it will need to at the very least match the Z6iii in every aspect, and should without fail exceed the Z6iii slightly, and at most blow the Z6iii out of the water while an of the 3 options being the same price. It will need a stacked sensor and internal RAW recording (6k60p) to do achieve any of those.

I know this would never happen but I would like to see Sony release 2 versions of the A7V. One that is photography specific and the other with all the high end video specs. Fuji did it with the X-H2. That way it keeps the cost down for us photographers that don’t use video.

They really needs to come with at least 15fps for photo and yes 4k60 no crop. I got the fx-30 because of the crop in 4k60 , if I need to record in a crop mode I just go with the crop sensor better and they not even realize that some of us are buying crop sensor cameras because of that. They should put a stacked sensor on the a7V and it will fix a lot of problems. Same 33mp photos, 30fps burst on electric shutter, 15 on mechanical. No crop 4k60p, slight crop for 4k up to 120p. And maybe a7rV screen.

Overheating Rolling Shutter 4K60 crop Autofocus Stabilization Rear display resolution Real Time LUT 32 bit float Internal storage Actually NONE of those things bother me about the A7iv. Better stabilization for video might be nice? I think the current A7iv active stabilization is a huge improvement over the a7iii. I'd like the rear display to have the tilt option without flipping I suppose, but like I said, None of the things he had a problem with the A7iv are anything I've ever had a problem with. Now I'm not a professional, so there's that, but still... I wonder if the A7V will even be tempting for me to buy! Love your videos Terry. Have been a subscriber forever. :)

Two things its important for the modern day creators: 6K open gate (60fps) to be able to crop your content both ways vertical and landscape and not shoot it twice for full 4K resolution, and Imported LUTs to spend less time in the editing room... if I wanna say a 3rd one maybe a better stabilization for run and gun shooters.

With the A7S series being unofficially axed, the A7V has to be more video centric. We’ll need uncropped 4k60 and a slight crop on 120, 6k, while being an amazing photography camera. Perfectly middle of the road. They should add fans to every body moving forward as well.

Its a small details but I’d like a shutter thats less noisy. The sound of the mechanical shutter is just too loud. Its really annoying when you’re shooting for event or concert where you need to be discret

Not a video shooter, but for photography, I'd love to see them switch to CF Express B (or start making the A cards cheaper). Increase the RAW stills frame rate to the (self-imposed) third party limitation of 15fps. Add A7RV display articulation + higher quality display. A9III grip ergonomics. Plus the AI chip stuff they're already putting in A7CII/A7CR/A6700

I wish for a fully articulating screen. Not only side flip. But tilt out, up and down. I still have the A7iv it's awesome. I got mine second hand for a deal too good too pass up from a retailer, same with 24-70mm GMII Lens. Bu Tim keennto see what the A7V will bring. I see some cameras have more auto focus, like train, car auto focus. I will wait until there's a significant upgrade But I agree with everything you said. I will wait save money. And wait for a second hand camera from a retailer. To save money but be safe. But meanwhile use my money of different stuff.

You know what would fix all the problems that you mentioned? A 24MP or 26MP sensor. But they would never have the courage to lower the resolution. Canon R6II doesn't have a 4k60 crop and doesn't overheat: 24 megapixels, like the Lumix cameras you have mentioned. And for me, working with event coverage, 24MP is enough. I'm waiting for a Canon R6III that have fullHDMI and All I codec options. Let's see what will appears first, Canon R6III or A7V. Another great video, as always

internal raw is patented I believe. Red had the patent, Nikon then implemented internal raw and got subsequently sued for it, and then they just ended up buying Red so now they own the patent lol. I think it's specific to the compression used to make the file sizes manageable, but don't take my word 100% for it.

Terry -- Stipulating that the A7V will not use a stacked sensor, there is a tension between upping the pixels and readout speed; Nikon's Z6iii stayed with 24mp largely for that reason. i agree with you that 33mp is enough, but Sony has tended to raise the mp count which complicates readout speed. That said, faster readout would permit a usable 10 fps in the EVF. Myself, i would rank a better, optically larger, EVF (maybe not to Z7RV res though) and the 8 step IBIS as top desires. I think that the difference between us is that i am a stills shooter; you are a video shooter. This body will never quite satisfy either one of us. -- gary ray

I agree, Honestly after the a9iii got the global shutter and the steep price point. I was so upset because an updated stack sensor a9iii would have been perfectly fine with me and a natural upgrade. I truly think that the a7v needs to have a stack sensor for us photo guys, because if not there isn't really a natural upgrade for sports and concert photographers like me. I'll just go to a used a1 when they get cheaper lol but I also don't need 50 megapexals.

Also, sony should take care that we no longer have flickering; Unfortunately, I noticed that sony has this problem on most cameras. Another important point, (I would say one of the most important), the shutter is of very poor quality, after less than 20,000 presses, my shutter died; I had to pay 700 pounds, which was disappointing, after that I noticed that a lot of people have this problem, so I hope that sony will take this into account in the future and have more respect for customers; We also need more frames for photography, 10 frames is not enough.

I would like to see at least 15-20 frames per second in raw, uncompressed. Sony needs to catch up with all the other camera companies on this. Maybe a global shutter, not as advanced as the a9iii but something to show perhaps this is what will be the next transition for cameras.

Jumped ship from 2 Canon R6's to the Sony FX3, and I'm looking for a B cam. I've been told to get the A74, but I'm also looking at the FX30. The A74 would allow me to take photos, and would be only used in 4K 24fps for wedding formal events (my second and I would both be using a Sony FX3, so 4K 60 without crop wouldn't matter). Is the overheating worse than the Canon R6?

Definitely need an internal fan or something in there but you're right. Sony is probably not going to deviate from their current model design. But if they wanna be bold I think they should. Lumix implemented a fan in the S5 perfectly without it adding too much bulk to the camera. If they can do it why not Sony?

What I would love more than anything is if Sony finally gives us firmware updates that don’t brick their cameras.I recently saw on SonyAlphaRumors that the newest firmware on A7RV was bricking the cameras. I know one of the firmware’s for A7IV was bricking cameras a few years back.

Agreed, there is a new firmware i just downloaded last Saturday that is suppose to fix that issue and i hope they continue the firmware updates for awhile, i find my A74 to be an awesome camera body ,if Sony puts most of these features into the A75 as he described and the availability to get firmware updates or even ones you could buy, I'm down for that, it sort of future proofs you and your camera for maybe 2 or 3 years longer, you may also see the Sony system running on a Android based operating system built into the camera which would make it that much better, heard this from a buddies uncle who just retired from Sony Canada 👍

Not just the A7V, but all the Sony cameras: Why don't we have more frame rate options? I'm not just talking about higher frame rates, but there's just a ton of them missing. Where's my 48fps? I'd shoot in that WAY more than 60fps, because I deliver in 24fps and it's easier math when slowing down. Where's my 15fps to do special old camera effects? Why don't we get these options? Also, why is it that I can't have the quick video record button go to my normal video settings? I can't shoot that in log unless I want my pictures to also be in log.

Sony should really fix the shutter if they upgrade to the A7V. The A7IV's shutter is really bad, with issues of shutter breakage when taking photos (something the A7III experienced earlier). I’ve seen very few cases of this happening with the A7R and A7C series. It’s quite puzzling! 🤔

I'm still with the A7iii so the 7V will be a big upgrade. I imagine the spec will be similar to the A7RV but not the megapixels of course nor the resolution of the screen.... the deal breaker will be will they continue to use the shutter from the A7iii/A7iv or upgrade it to the A7R models to reduce risk of breakage. If they use the same shutter I'll go for the A7RV.

Personnally, I never had any issue with overheating with my A7IV 🤔 And I mean, I film festival, and even sometimes full set, mid day, summer (34-36°C, full mid day sun) like people passing out and I'm recording 2h uncut 4K 60p. No issue 😅 I'm usially on gimbal, screen out as you should and need to do 🙄 I think I saw only once the warning sign for high temperature. Personnally, yeah stabilisation could definitely be better... The display, I really don't mind. But what matters to me are the little quirks: - Why I cannot set my white balance with a grey card when I am in any Memory mode ? 🤷🏽‍♂️ - Why I can untick the settings that I don't want to carry from photo to video: Shutter, aperture, iso, white balance, exp comp, metering mode, PP, focus mode, but not the "Focus Area, nor "Zebra Level"... The 2 things that are OBVIOUSLY DIFFERENT 😮 This makes absolutely no sense 😳 - Have you ever noticed that if you are in filming mode with the "Display Assist: On", and Playback your RAW pictures, they look funky because the rec.709 lut gets applied to them ? 🙄 - And if you are in photo mode but playback your log footage they look LOG... 🤨 - PAL Region have no 25p in XAVC-HS... Only 50p 🤷🏽‍♂️ - PAL Region also have only 140Mb/s for 10 bit 4:2:2. Meaning I am missing out on light weight good quality videos (in festival I can film up to 40h of footage, I could save hundred Go per project, just by having the same options that NTSC region have 😔). - Why Peaking & Focus mode aren't linked anymore like it use to be on A7III ? Meaning: if on, will automatically show up in manual focus and not in autofocus. Now I have to do 2 actions, and set 2 buttons when I just needed one before... - Why Codec and Framerate are 2 separate menu instead of one, like any other brand is doing ? Meaning I need 2 spots in the FN menu... - why we have a "smartphone connect" menu AND a "bluetooth" menu and they are in different sections when you need to access both to paire it anyway 🤨 - No "Marker Display" for vertical video, in 2024 🤷🏽‍♂️ And there is many more... Don't get me wrong, I love this camera, as a solo event videographer that often do both photo and video, it's the best swiss army knife on the market. But maaan this is so frustrating sometimes 😔 It feels like they don't want us to be too comfortable, or they never tested their camera on the field :/ It's tiny things that could be change in minor firmware updates, but they add up and some of them we complain about since the a7 first gen 😳

The AF point is moot. You say "Need" to update, like the A7iv AF is bad. It is only bad, because the A7RV/A9/A1 AF exists. But the A7iv AF is still excellent in its own right. And you know a newer AF will be coming to the A7v when even the a6700 got some of that goodness.

They do have real time luts. Up to 33cube files. Instead of asking for redundant tech, let's get cheaper lenses. Picking n choosing obsolete tech is kinda pointless unless you advocate for Sony recycling parts onto a "newer" body

Sony doesn't have to fix anything on the future a7v. It's not coming anytime soon. It likely won't be out until 2026. The a7iv is such a great camera right now that it can easily last 5 years before needing an a7v.

Built in 32bit float, no thank you. That is only useful in vlogging scenarios where the subject is close to the mic. Every other scenario, the 32bit float is not going to save you, but in return it will make the body cost more. So no thanks 😃 Same goes for built in storage. If it fails, you have to get the body shipped to a service station and wait for the repair. And I assure you it will cost an arm and a leg. But i'd wish Sony would use Type B cards instead of Type A's in their body. It is cheaper & faster.

In 1000 people i have talk, never they have had overheating in that camara. 🤷🏻‍♂️ So people dont know how to use camaras or they are shooting in the Sahara. Rolling shutter, do you really pan fhat fast

4k60 crop and slow readout is trash. My iPhone and pocket 3 have better specs. I use my a7iv for photos only. Yeah and put on the fully articulating screen.

DO NOT TRUST SONY'S MEDDLING Sony A7IV has A1's autofocus chip with 60 calculations per second, if they really put the af chip of the a7riv on the a7v (20 calcs per second) and sugarcoat it with the ai af thing (which does nothing but box the subject in a green square and tells the AF to search but since it's so goofy sometimes it fails) it is going to be a CHEAPOUT. If the A7V has the A1's boosted 120 calcs per second mode then YES! it is going to be a beast. Trust REAL photographers, not professional sponsorsmen that just spew nonsense on KZbin with a professional look.
