Is it normal to receive the "do not leave the device exposed to a strong light source such as sunlight with the lens cap off" every time I power down the camera when the anti-dust function is turned on?

I wish you would do a in depth video about the configuration of saving specific settings to the 1, 2, 3 modes on top of the A1. For some reason I struggle with that capability of customizing those settings. If you have a in-depth video already could you reply with the lil? Thank you so much for your hard work. It Hass to be the best job in the world playing with all this gear from Sony.

Check with the online manual as not all cameras support this feature.

Hello. I recently bought the amazing Sony A7IV - along side my Canon R6 which I have owned for over a year. I also shoot videos mostly without an ND filter so at small apertures. Never had to wipe my Canon R6 sensor in over a year and same with the prior Canon R which I also owned for about a year. I had the Sony for about a month and the sensor is full of dust. I swap lenses with body side down - I also remove the battery and discharge the voltage by turning on the camera without a battery and I also enable the shutter curtain closing at power off before the lens swap. I try to use the cleaning mode often which is now called Antidust and after a week dust is back. Its crazy how something I never had to worry about is now the number one reason I'm not liking my new Sony. I shoot birds and wildlife and I often start recording in between burst shots so I can not mount and ND in between shots so I'm forced to shoot at small apertures between f16 and f22. I don't have thousand dollar video editing software so I'm left with these videos with spots on them. Photo dust I can clone out but video I can not. Should I be really cleaning my sensor once a week ??? My home is not dusty - nobody smokes and I try to swap lenses indoor as much as possible. I always head out with my 200-600G already mounted. I also download my photos and videos via the side port so I seldon remove the SD card. Seriously with my Canons I used the blower a few times a year to be safe but never touched the sensor with cleaning pads like I do now with the Sony. I also shot video and no dust even at F22. I know the Canon shakes the sensor (cleaning mode) every time I power off and has the shutter curtain down at power off like the new Sony. Is this because the camera is new ???? Will it get better ??? ....help. My house is carpeted should I ground myself before touching the body ??

The A1/A7R5 manual has a note: "Cleaning may be performed automatically when the power is turned off." Does this mean cleaning may occur automatically without explicitly triggering cleaning via the menus?

A CAMSET is all or nothing but it only takes a minute or two to modify a memory setting. The support eBook lists all of my settings so you will immediately know the differences.

Gel stick to clean sensor, from what I’ve read, is generally inadvisable due to residues. Swabs made for the purpose much preferred.

Gel stick is fine so long as you purchase the one made for sony sensors, I.e. there is more than one kind.

question. is there a workaround to get it close in silent mode. i don't want to switch the shutter always when changing a lens

Yes - just turn 'On' the Shutter option that I had set to 'Off'. That is the nature of these targeted settings, i.e., you get to decide which noises are OK and which noises are not. A stills photographer working on a film set would be fired for the sound of a shutter closing during an expensive 'take'.

Thanks Mark, I am concerned about the sensor cleaning on my A1. When I press the button the camera initiates the cleaning but I can’t feel any vibration. In contrast on my A7RIV and A7III I can clearly feel the vibrating sensor. Is there a problem with the A1?

It's now a sonic process instead of mechanical vibrating process.

You enable this function, then switch the camera off and then wait to hear the click of the shutter closing before removing the lens.
