Thanks Karolina, I always enjoy your sessions, this setup is very similar to my Canon R5, I ended up assigning the shutter button half press to animal eye detect, this works great for me, not long come back from a fantastic trip to Kruger...many many images and videos to edit now.

One thing you didn't mention: Pre-focus? Can it help with faster and better focus, and where is it set up? 😄

I have both of my cameras (A9 and A7RV) setup with a custom button programmed to switch into Wide focus for when I'm having trouble getting focus on a bird in flight (usually the small, fast ones like swallows). This works well but I had to setup an entire "profile" with ISO setting, White balance, Shutter speed etc.. instead of just being able to switch the focus mode. Does anyone know of another way to do this that only switches the focus mode?

You'll need to activitate AF Registration in the menu, then assign the AEL button as AF Registration + AF On, by long pressing the Fn button. Little complicated but far simpler. Two focus modes of your choice on 2 buttons. I'll share an in-depth tutorial on advanced AF on Sony in the next 2 weeks.
